Unfortunately, the only real solution is a curated app store like Amazon or Apple and even those have had problems, though fewer of them. However, there are some very good apps out there that don't spend the money to get approved so you could miss out on something. There is AV for devices. Use it. And think twice about any app that you don't have prior knowledge of.

My issue with Google Play is that for some reason my Samsung Galaxy tablet can't use it anymore, which makes downloading apps pretty tough. All I get (every few minutes, which is very annoying) is a message that pops up saying "Unfortunately, Google Play has stopped working." I don't seem to be able to either get it working again or stop the message from popping up.

Have you tried a hard boot (ie. hold the power button, tap Power Off, then restart)? I believe that there is also a way to simulate a battery pull on a Galaxy but that's for phones. Not sure if it would work on a tab or not (nor do I remember how, have to look it up).

Also (again, assuming you haven't tried it already), go into Settings - Apps open Google Play Store, go to Storage, and Clear Data. Never done that for Store but it's fixed problems with other apps.

Beyond that, I'm kind of out of ideas. I'm not an expert on Android even after using it for 3 years since my staff do the day-to-day support for our smartphones at work. You may be into backing up your data (if you have music, ebooks, photos, etc. on the device) and doing a factory reset.

Have u tried flinging ur tablet as far as u can while imagining a life without it?

More seriously: have you tried taking the battery out for a while and then putting it back in?

Tabs generally don't have removable batteries. Samsung has a way to simulate a battery pull on some devices but that's as close as you can come. I suppose you could let the battery run flat and then recharge it but that's a bit slow.
