TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

Arguably we can all be labelled elitist or bigoted or something similar, at least some of the time. We who post here presumably enjoy a fair amount of privilege. It's hard being challenged.
That's true. True for yourself, also. And it's annoying being trolled, too. Which Innana was doing as much as challenging. "LA DI DAH?" After name calling. He does like to troll to stir up things. And I am mad at him (and myself) because I couldn't find anything very "peaceful" in that moment after being called an elitist urban bigot - to say. But it was hypocritical coming from Inanna.

I think most of us either are now, or grew up in white middle class privelege. We don't get a whole lot of other perspectives here. But an elitist, I am not.

Hi,

I am persuaded that an effective form of resistance is the practice of joy rooted in the presence of eternal life at the heart of our being in the world. This in clear contrast to the search for satisfaction in the realm of production and consumption. A matter of each of us letting our little light shine in the deepening dark.

George

Not on the sense that he was saying it - like wealthy, (very) highly educated upper middle class sense. I relate to the oppressed better than those at the top, 99% of the time.

If there's elitist about me it is by default of living in a wealthier part of the world. If I was poor in Zimabwe I'd already be dead. If I was poor in a ghetto in Detroit without healthcare and running water, I'd very likely be dead. But Inanna is more priveleged than most, too. So his comment was hypocritical and trolling.

Right, so I say he's a jackass for a couple of reasons...

One, his tweet, "Condolences to the family of the young woman killed today, and best regards to all of those injured, in Charlottesville, Virginia. So sad!" Offering condolences is, I feel, right and presidential. However, "best regards?"

Two, his comment, "We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides.... It has been going on for a long time in our country -- not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. It has been going on for a long, long time. It has no place in America." No, the hatred and bigotry was on one side, as was the worst of the violence - the white supremacists.

Source of quotes: Trump condemns 'hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides' in Charlottesville - CNNPolitics

Today the White House issued a new statement saying that the president condemns all hatred and bigotry, and that of course that includes that which comes from hate groups. Sadly lacking (from what I just heard on the news anyway) is any kind of word on what (if anything) he'll do to end said hatred and bigotry.

Are you suggesting he has his arse up as a righteous singularity?

It absolutely is a temptation to rest in guilt, to wallow in the morass which is our collective human experience. There is/should be an equal and opposite trend to the divine, towards wholeness and joy.

We could talk about this ... if there wasn't repression of dialogue ... as thoughts are believed to be best is sacred ... and hidden ... makes life simple for the powerful ... and I'm just powerfully challenged by life as it is ... and baffled why it can't be different and more equitable ... to those people buried from the opervations of them on high horses ...

So it goes in reality ... I wait for the kingdom of the abstract ... Shambhala? Some say it is a dark abyss ... like a common cave or tunnel in space? Escape 'ole ...

Is elitist a defeating term causing some challenge?

Should people be challenged to think and not just feel ... dynamic emoting? This could stir whole schools of fish into fissures ...

Cracks in the system!

@Jae - thank you for the photo. I love pictures of evangelical gatherings.

If looked at backwards ... the icon is called Svasti ... with a sort of shamanistic origin that is described as indeterminate ... thus causing chaos with the Set in Stonewall bunch that are counter to Samaritans ... just due to legal principle! Assists in setting up an image of windmills of the gods ... collected in Sol ... an integrational place ... perhaps palisade ...

Now from a Constitutional Conservative
Courageous Truth seeker, Ben Shapiro

Weimar Republic!
So good news from Ben Shapiro'pov: "Alt Right" iz the recent creation of very few people and the "actual" movement seems to be very small.
Bad news from his pov: evil isn't be denounced enough. "Alt right" could grow bigger if not challenged.

Bless our police who r there to protect ALL of us

I find Peter Theil to be full of baloney - he sets up a false definition of multiculturalism to then knock it down. He projects a shallow understanding of what it is, why it is - and of history of oppression..
He then sets up a false definition of the purpose of political correctness (he says, it's to defend multiculturalism - that he already falsely defined and knocked down). I agree that political correctness can go overboard (and I have been guilty of taking it there at times and even been called on lacking PC) but there is an essential purpose for it - and that purpose is an effort to not diminish or demean further, or keep subjugated, groups that are already marginalized. And I think most of the time it's common decency and common sense. Or, should be. It gets a bit much when anybody can get overly offended by anything. But basically it's just "don't put down people who, if you stop to think about it, have it harder now, and historically, than you have. Respect their group identity as one of their boundaries and don't cross it out of glib disregard."

One of the reasons US has more of a problem making multiculralism work, than we do (we are not problem free though) is they see themselves as a melting pot, and we see ourselves as a mosaic - imo.
