No problem Jae. I call them as I see them. You have a good one too.Well isn't that a lovely little comment. Have a good day dreamerman.
Depends how one defines a "Christian." The point is that Hitler fit no definition of what it was to be a Christian - neither his actions nor his professed beliefs. He rejected the basics of Christian doctrine.revsdd: I can't think of any world leaders who were Christians in any sense of the word. Hitler was a Christian as much as Truman or Mackenzie King or Churchill - or Trump (who prays with his cabinet and with a preacher in attendance.) And George Bush jr., who is a devout Methodist. Churches don't seem to notice that.
The good news is that we don't have to discuss Trump any more. He's finished (though he could arise with an invasion of North Korea.) The vote to save obamacare was cast by people who didn't want to save it. Their only purpose was to humiliate Trump, and to effectively destroy his presidency. After he's gone, they'll kill obamacare. So the good news is that Trump is finished.
The bad news is that those who will succeed him are worse, much worse. The only exception is Bernie Sanders. But I would not rate his chances highly.
And then you will be left with disgruntled Trump supporters who will not take Trumps leaving lightly.revsdd: I can't think of any world leaders who were Christians in any sense of the word. But theres still the matter of damage control if Trump was out.It is most unlikely that Trump will be succeeded by someone more competent. U.S. presidents since Roosevelt have largely been a parade of mass murderers in the service of big business. And Canada has specialized in leaders who are characterless (like Justin) or actively destructive (like Harper.).
By a combination of factors - like a fictionalized version of American history, 'patriotic' propaganda, an absurd believe in American values that don't, in fact, exist - most Americans cannot see the reality of what they have become. Nor have the Christian churches helped them to see more clearly.
Perhaps he wants the chaos to impose more laws and appear as a saviour? The U.S. may we have passed beyond damage control. It's certainly happened before in history. The last emperors of Rome know about that. And the lords of the British, French, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese empires.
He probably doesn't have any choice?I just need to reinforce, Graeme, that your views are very depressing.
