Jae, why are you so obtuse? Has it never occurred to you that a) people transition in a place they've been accustomed to being, so they must actually MOVE from using one room to another; and b) that there might be stages in a transition where "assumed" gender identity is inaccurate?

Gender -who the f*** cares - bathrooms are a huge kindness to both trans people, and usually, to disabled people. It's a clear win-win.

There's no reason to insult me Bette. All I did was ask a couple of simple questions.

Jae..... we have been over this time and again and by this point the answer should be common sense.

What happened to, "Ask away .... this will be a safe place to do it....
I will consider all questions to be asked in good faith and I shall reply in kind.
...."

I was wondering if it was seen as offensive because the " half person" is standing next to two " full" persons. If they would use just the half person sign as a sign for gender neutral, it might make more sense and take away that conflict.
Anybody knows how bathroom signs are handled in counties where men are wearing traditional robe like clothing?

My chief concern with public restroom facilities is that I not be expected to engage in small talk while using them.

Seriously, I have plenty of non washroom related friendships that offer me support and encouragement to get through the day. I don't need idle weather chat while relieving myself.

I can handle a restroom without urinals.

If I am expected to use a stall I can use a stall.

I don't care who is in the stall next to me. It is a bathroom we are all there for the same reason and sometimes it gets ugly.

At my last pastoral charge all washrooms were unisex. No urinals anywhere. Of course all were singular occupancy which led to some line-ups from time to time just because volume of demand couldn't be met with volume of supply. Fix that problem and there is no problem.

God/word is funny that way when you consider the ancient use of pistis Sophia ... a pstd off wisdom due to over emotionality of mortals? Thus the immortal cognizance? Tis beyond me ... I'm not allowed to know ... but do probe such dimensions ... like the fractal neural network ... odd what the brain contains .. within and often doing without!

We have two single washrooms (basically similar to a household powder room) and two public washrooms, the "men's room" having urinals and stalls, the ladies' stalls (Presumably. As a cis-male I've never had the opportunity to confirm). Those are "legacy" from when the building was a club. Things might have changed, at least in terms of signage, since I took my hiatus. I shall see in the fall if/when I return. If they have not, I may advocate for some kind of change.

With regret Jae.... My history with you leaves me suspect on your motives behind most of your posts. How I wish I could regard your posts as being asked "in good faith".

I really don't know what you're talking about RitaTG, and am disappointed that you're going back on your word, "I will consider all questions to be asked in good faith and I shall reply in kind....."

Now, what I have provided you with here is a teaching opportunity. I asked simple questions in good faith. You don't have to answer them, that's your right. I can always find answers through Bing.

I do not feel your questions are in "good faith" and given past experience I doubt you are are open to actual teaching.
Perhaps Bing is a better choice for you....

I'm sorry you, for whatever reason, feel that way RitaTG.

Yes, I would imagine. Bing doesn't say, ""I will consider all questions to be asked in good faith and I shall reply in kind....." and then go back on that. Have a good afternoon RitaTG.

It's too bad you don't see her reasons. I suppose if you don't now, you never will. I have seen behaviours she has seen and which have lead her to feel that way. If she can't help you understand, I certainly won't be able to convince you.

What "behaviors" Northwind? Please cite examples.

The tendency to make yourself to the center of a thread.
Everyone , including Rita, has the right and the liberty to respond to something that's said or not. Rita decided not to.
Moving on.

Perhaps not so much on a thread in which RitaTG said, "I will consider all questions to be asked in good faith and I shall reply in kind....." Also moving on. Disappointed though.

Interesting you are mentioning this.
We had an interesting information session by the organizer of the local youth LGBTQ group, who mentioned that talking about " the rules of the male washroom" was one topic they talk about and the i,portance of knowing this for the trans boys (i.e. the urinal conversations.)
I am not aware of similar " rules" in female washrooms....
