Sounds like my Dell computer that starts itself randomly after I have shut it down.

I have seen this before and cannot remember for the life of me what was the fix.

I was in the process of saving some changes to the paper at the time

Good. I always tell people to save often even if the program has an auto-recover function. Those are not always reliable.

things like that just after I installed Windows 10. Hasn't happened in a while, though.
Good morning, all! Have a wonderful Monday! Coffee's up. Help yourself. c[_]

So I discovered the hard way years ago.

It is worse since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 - I have manually updated all the drivers and still happens.

This is ridiculous! Something is going on with my computer...it lets me type 2 words than it freezes...I can't highlight and cut-and-paste...going to be a long day if it doesn't smarten up!

When out of the night that was fifty below
And into the din and the glare
There stumbled a miner, fresh from the creeks,
Dog dirty and loaded for bear.

Did you upgrade from an older version of Windows or buy a new computer? Unfortunately, I find MS in place upgrades are a bit of a joke. If I'm "upgrading" a computer to a new version of Windows, I backup the files, format the drive, and start from scratch.

My office is a swamp today. It appears that some drain backed up, flooding my end of the building. So I shall be LAST from a cubicle today (and maybe tomorrow).

I trust your swamp missed your files and paperwork. Working out of a temp. location can be frustrating. I did it for way too long last year.

@Mendalla
1. somehow a website I had to access to retrieve info for the paper was causing the worst of the troubles because as soon as I closed it, pretty much everything worked again.
2. sorry to hear about your swamp and hopefully things get fixed/cleaned up quickly.

Mercifully, the boss just rearranged things to create more cubbies but hasn't filled them all yet, so I had a place to go. A month or two ago I would have had to take over the board room or the cubicle of someone who is away. All my stuff is off the floor (the problem appears to have originated in a drain hidden under the carpet) so no damage to that at least.

Makeover had to be rescheduled due to a double-booking at the salon so will be the end of the month now.

I won't work ... not working and thus something must be done about it ... transgression ... or just change a beta 'n regression?
