Oh yeah, I had an aunt, my Dad's sister. Never married, had a "friend" Jean that lived on the ground floor of the duplex they both occupied. It was never discussed that she was gay and it only dawned on me years later, but do you think anyone ever acknowledged it while she was alive? Nope. For us, we don't talk about stuff. Family secrets go down with a generation as they die.
We don't converse.
We go to other families where everything is out in the open from bodily experiences to relationships, doesn't matter they chat.
Family rules.
There is also another "aunt" of my daughter,s in laws. She's in her 70's, never married and has lived with another woman for years, yet everyone refers to her as a spinster.
Is it more difficult for the elderly to "come out" and upset the stories I wonder?
