Unwritten Family Rules

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

For us, we don't talk about stuff. Family secrets go down with a generation as they die.
We don't converse.

We go to other families where everything is out in the open from bodily experiences to relationships, doesn't matter they chat.

Family rules.
Oh yeah, I had an aunt, my Dad's sister. Never married, had a "friend" Jean that lived on the ground floor of the duplex they both occupied. It was never discussed that she was gay and it only dawned on me years later, but do you think anyone ever acknowledged it while she was alive? Nope.
There is also another "aunt" of my daughter,s in laws. She's in her 70's, never married and has lived with another woman for years, yet everyone refers to her as a spinster.
Is it more difficult for the elderly to "come out" and upset the stories I wonder?

"Sheesh" (said in my best Canadian) "You'll do anything to retain the roofer's services -but it won't work. I've texted him that, as you're now back home, he's to get on the first flight back to Oz. Just hope it's not United, and they've overbooked!"

Hey, they are now offering up to 10,000 USD to people who give up their seat. He could pay the trip if he gets bumped.;)

:ROFLMAO: Tis enough to make lesser people (humble?) pook ...

I must feint away now so as not to offend the fanatics ... on the straight way and not noticing the harlot By the road as a Sophisticated broad based psyche ... an all around person according to J. Kirsch?

Sort of breaks gods children up ... thus that broken people theory!

I read this today & it made me think about some of our discussion on this thread. I like the metaphor of a tree - growing & shedding the bark as it becomes too restrictive; adding growth rings ...
Trees Shedding Their Bark
