Probably why they say God lives within us and outside of us.......although I find it hard to believe that we could create perfection(God) without actually "being it".
We didn't create "perfection". We created a supreme being who contradicts himself, demands horrible things and throws temper tantrums. You can't make these observations and then insist this being is perfect.

Well, you can try.

In those cases, I agree, God does start to sound more like us rather than a beacon of light that lures us towards a harbour within His kingdom of love and peace. Should I wrestle with the ideas and thoughts of men that have been recorded in the bible or should I focus on the God that wrote above all of that?

Waterfall ---your quote -----that makes God barbaric

If you believe that makes God barbaric then that is your assumption -----so your calling God names like cruel ---wicked ----merciless --murderous ---savage ----Wow ---and you call yourself a Christian ??

bar·bar·ic

synonyms:
brutal,barbarous,brutish,bestial,savage,vicious,wicked,cruel,ruthless,merciless,villainous,murderous,heinous,
monstrous,vile,inhuman,infernal,dark,fiendish,diabolical
I do not believe God is barbaric, but I believe that the understandings and interpretations of God have led others to believe that He is. eg. believing that God uses a supposed sacrifice to "test" Abraham. If an interpretation does not lead to a loving God, I believe the interpretation is wrong.

What part are we saying God wrote?

You can not start with the conclusion and just ignore those facts that do not fit the conclusion you really, really want. This is why people make fun of Christianity. Well, one reason.

So...it's written on the bottom of your foot?

of course, why your missing it ?

God does not make sense if He is not all loving.....if He is not, why would I want to follow a God that isn't? It is people that insist God must be violent and cruel sometimes in order to make God "all powerful". The greatest and highest power is love.

That's one reason some people aren't Christians. I've often said here that, if some people here are correct and God is real and is fairly presented in the Bible, then I'd still want nothing to do with Christianity, because I would not worship such a monster.

Right - the people who wrote the Bible. On which your faith is based. Except any time you find something you don't like in it, you rip it out. Makes the bible more portable, to be sure.

In the Stars, the earth, the universe, your heart......all given to testify God's hope....

Actually God works through revelation. The Bible can show our nature as well as God's. Sometimes we have to look at ourselves as well as God in order to seek God's understanding and hope for us.
