so a couple of things
The church I attended in Edmonton opened their doors to the Fort Mac minister and congregants staying around Edmonton. They met for a potluck and some together time.

A young BC man-from Victoria-drove to Claresholm AB and impersonated Fort Mac evacuees. The police have charged him.

Good and bad. Just like life.
 
Hopefully the return for many in about a week's time will go smoothly. Many aren't planning on staying, but want to pick up items, start cleaning, etc.
 
Airport is supposed to re-open June 10, I heard on the radio yesterday. Guess that's a good sign if Transport Canada thinks things have settled enough for flights to resume safely.
 
I forgot to mention that when I landed in St. John's at the start of the holiday, there was a fair bit of what appeared to be Fort Mac evacuees.
Families complete with school age children and pets were much greater in number than is ever at the airport , especially at this time of year.
They were being met by happy grandparents, aunts, uncles.

Fort Mac is affectionately known as the Westernmost part of Newfoundland and Labrador.
