My iPad is newer. The charge connection is broken though so I can't use it at the moment. I can live without emojis and gifs if it can't be done. I'll just do this:

Yep. I am pretty sure it is the button bar that is broken so the emoji text shortcuts should work.

Preview is in the top right corner of the editor.

On desktop, it looks like this:



On mobile or highly zoomed in, it changes to (circled):



The triangle icon is a custom button I created for the mods. It formats text to the "mod warning" format so they don't have to remember which colour to use. And I though only mods and admins could see it, to be honest. Need to check into that.

Should. It's not a "mode" just a text formatting button similar to the bold and italic buttons. You highlight text and click the button or turn it on then type the text. If you can't see the emoji button, that's a separate issue.

Well, see above, instead of showing it, it said “ whistle”. Maybe its doing it only because it knows I am not a mod.

The Giphy button is set to PG rating. However, if you have a direct link to a gif hosted somewhere else, you can just embed it with the link option on the image button and no ratings are applied (though the mods can remove it if they deem it breaks the rules).
