Why do so many people in our world today seem bitter, and not kind?

I think it's thanks to social media on which so many have learned to just be brutal to one another. Many engage in a nonstop battle for supremacy. Almost everyone constantly tries to better everyone else in terms of intellect, humor, etc.

Do you agree, or have other thoughts?

I tend to think the internet emboldens many people that without the internet would often be afraid to speak out in public or in a face to face situation.

I am not sure that the Internet is entirely to blame. After all, we see good things happen via social media, too (people supporting their neighbours through tough times or running GoFundMes for others). It is definitely an enabler, but less sure of how much it is a cause. Things like "road rage" predate modern social media and seem to be part of the phenomenon, too. I could argue that public figures essentially empowering bullies and the bitter by engaging in bullying behaviour and allowing their followers to do so play a role, too. And a general sense of entitlement encouraged by messages from many quarters that "you are what matters" plays a role, too. Even inward looking faith that draws boundaries around "in" and "out" or "saint" and "sinner", encourages looking down on the "out" group, and teaches that our personal salvation matters more than how we treat each other and the world can arguably play a role.

Could it be the overwhelming need for some to grasp power ... especially when having no clue about what the Lost One does to effect the consequences ...

Fire without the Kohl is threatening. I see a post on FB recently about a prophet in the 1920's declaring if we really want a high powered leader we could face a brutal loss of proper sentient ... is that ignorant? Is ignorant like kerygma ... flashing tongues? Oops ... put that in the log ... Kali Jah ... collision! Tree in de light ...

This too, but many of the bullying tactics and road rages are becoming enabled by guns and other weapons along with the internet.

Unrestricted release of power without reason, rational, nor responsibility ... it is said it wasn't, nor could never be without a vast irresponsible following causing a great opening ah void? This incarnates between the ears for alien reason ... something to observe and learn ...

Nah, we couldn't do that ... some sage declared that learning is a pain ... must be bad! Implications ...

Yes, I think that's true, Waterfall, and that's great. Some people can really benefit from the Internet's anominity in that way. But I really do feel that what happens most often is such as I was describing

Here's an overriding condition ... are some people bitter and unaware of the fact ... thus they must state their bitterness alternately ... as if it were biblically set? The number of tomes for burying a myth are stupendous ... says so in the Gospel of John's ... common truth put down by those of avarice ... control freaks!

The observation does justify the possibility of existence of an unconscious psyche ... thus too will be declared prodigal by tyranny of power ... an gross extent of excitable misunderstanding? They look to have a last say ... not the understanding because there is no end to that given the scatter of de Lambda ... that's "L" in Roman inscription ... don't get too close or you could erupt. Ever incinerate a beast without removing the innards? Stand back ...

I do feel that social media allows people to say things to people that they would not say to theirface.
It also allows for people to make caricatures of the person they are chatting with.
They're __________ or they're ______________ always (insert whatever term you want in those lines.)

It is easy to fall into the trap of demonizing someone, such that you read everything that they do through a lens that is "looking at a demon"
Posts are misread
intents are misunderstood.

what if we all approached everyone with a clean slate or the idea that people mean good intentions.

That's well said, Jayne. Sadly, there are a few posters here who enjoy consistently demonizing me.

Their calling me names, troll in particular, is bullying me. It’s not justified because they think they're right. Their name calling is rude.

We should all, as you say, approach everyone with a clean slate and all give each other the benefit of the doubt

It is hard when people have an opinion of you, and they make posts using that opinion.

You will not convince them by arguing.

All that I have been able to do in such a situation is do my best to ensure that my behaviour does not give someone ammunition.
It is hard at times to not bite when someone slights you.
It shows good character if you can ignore and move on.
The use of the ignore function can help in those situations

That's wise, Jayne, thank you for saying. I've just chosen to ignore a couple of people. I'm sorry that I feel like I must do that, but I trust that it will turn out for the best

Ignore is a tool to control your response to people. take p
It does not impact their behaviour.

It is good training to take folks off of ignore periodically to see how their posts impact you.
If you feel your angst or anxiety or anger raising, then, ponder "why do i feel that way", and then, move on, put the ignore back on.
If though, you find that you can read their posts, and just live with them being present, then, maybe you are ready to take the ignore off.

You'll note that i am not saying the post you are reacting too is right or wrong.
It is about how you feel when you read it.

People are more than just the words they write on a post.
They have things happening in their lives, history, joys and sadness.
When we respond, we should do our best to respond in a way that adds joy, not takes away.

What did my mother used to say " if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all"

Does ignorance cause bitterness ... in the bitter end the light departed as made a statement about "knowing"! It too went by in the worsip of ONE Tome amongst so many other books, manuscripts, etc. John spoke of them as commonly scattered ...

Well, let's take a look at religion, for example.

We see people say they know better than others. That they know the nature of a supreme being and that being has laws on how to live. And they think you should be bound by those laws, even if you don't believe in that deity. They have strong positions on our place on this Earth and want children taught the same, even when it flies in the face of science and what we've learned as a society.

The controlling nature of these people invites bitterness and retaliation. You can't attack a way of life and living and learning, then when others are hostile to your attempts to control them, stand up and say, "Hey, why the hostility?"

In as many as half the cases where people are incredulous about the way they have being treated online, they've ignored the history of their own behaviour. You can't abuse someone and then claim you are an innocent target.

The key thing is to respect one another's perspectives even when we disagree with them. Everyone's coming from their own unique place. To work toward harmony in any place, seeking to understand each other is vital

Sometimes the problems arise from understanding that the other person seeks to have power over you.

"Harmony," then, is supposedly saying nothing in the face of attempted malice or control of some sort. That's not harmony, that's capitulation.

Sure, chansen, I get where you're coming from. It's important to recognise when someone's trying to exert control or malice and then stand up for yourself

Can a tyrant see this in themselves Jae? Thus those dark mire in time ... to escape and look back at thy self ...

Yet some are blinded by their celebrity folly ... humility may be an improvement over the Proud Bunch and their prickled nature ...
