Great questions Gord. I have found many people are both lacking in imagination and are risk avoidant - personally and organizationally - a combination that presents huge barriers to change. Sometimes its been helpful to name these - as some people operate at a pretty unconscious and unquestioning level. Good questions to ask ourselves too periodically!

I've found it helpful where possible to adopt a practice of 'experimenting' - trying something out with an open mind to see where Spirit takes it. To name the changes as an experiment, to ask others to keep an open mind & refrain from judging its success or failure, and to refrain from commenting at all about it for a specified period of time - then a fulsome discussion will be held to hear all views. This is a practice I learned from an esteemed church colleague several decades ago.

Personally, I love kids serving communion - its such a sacred time to share with them - from which all can learn.

Trying to find solutions that don't ever 'unsettle' anyone usually means nobody at all is well served or satisfied. Nevertheless, it's sadly the common practice in many (stagnant? dying?) communities of faith.

To your question about starting afresh - at some point, we have to put some things down to free ourselves enough to pick other things up. I've sometimes used a 'start, stop, continue' method of sorting activities in organizations to help figure out priorities and ways to loosen up.

Is learning and knowledge a fresh item? Is it condemned as changing the ole line ... thus a substitute for the former buttering?

A little dab is good a bunch and you slip away ...

Everyday we are to start afresh as everyday we are to continually seek the Kingdom. We won't find it by looking. We find it by listening,

The kingdom is within.
Only if you receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour who took all our wrath that we deserve and sins upon Himself do we have the Kingdom Within ------the Natural man does not have the Kingdom Within ----

And many say and think we are all God's Children ---that is False Claim-Folks-----we are God's Creation ----only those who receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour are Adapted as Children of God --and are Heirs of the Promise ----

Read all if interested ---yourselves I just posted this part

The Bible is clear that all people are God’s creation (Colossians 1:16), and that God loves the entire world (John 3:16), but only those who are born again are children of God (John 1:12; 11:52; Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:1-10).

In Scripture, the lost are never referred to as God’s children. Ephesians 2:3 tells us that before we were saved we were “by nature objects of wrath” (Ephesians 2:1-3).

Romans 9:8 says that “it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.” Instead of being born as God’s children, we are born in sin, which separates us from God and aligns us with Satan as God’s enemy (James 4:4; 1 John 3:8).

i say -----So to start afresh you need to receive Christ within -----that is your New Spiritual fresh start ---

I say -----We can Accept or Reject what Jesus says ---that is our own personal choice ---and we will bear the consequences of our Choice

and the After gatekeepers
There are Gatekeepers both here in this Physical world and in the Spiritual Realm----------Satan is the gatekeeper here -----keeping the gate closed to our acceptance of God's Drawing to accept the Gospel witch inbirths God's Faith in us ------but we have free will to reject Satan's ploy ---and accept God's Drawing -----

And there are Gatekeepers in the afterlife ------

From Bible Hub

The Greek term θυρωρός occurs four times in the New Testament and denotes a person stationed at an entryway to guard, admit, or exclude----

AI ---go figure
Revelation 21:12-13, the 12 gates of the New Jerusalem (heaven) are inscribed with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
These gates are arranged with three on each side (East, North, South, West) and are guarded by twelve angels. [1, 2, 3]

So while we have free will to choose ------there are gatekeepers --------
