I think Luce might be refering to woke in its proper pre-Trump context. Today, I think the people - especially mainstream white people - calling themselves woke have co-opted it from struggles of the black civil rights movement and are still half asleep or are just neoliberals patting themselves on the back for being ‘not Trump’ but not actually doing anything about changing anything that brought about Trump.I'm tired of buying into the "woke" crap....or any words or phrases that define a people way too broadly to the point of being false information about things that need to be talked about
Marc Maron, though, has this point of view. I respect it, too.
It’s not like he never says anything controversial or potentially offensive. In his most recent show he jokes that liberals have a buzzkill problem and they (him included) annoyed the country into fascismThat even covers the 80% rule as approximately 85-99% incorrect matter we have to digest to make heads out of wooden posts ... thus we carve & slice!

But he wasn't alone in all this, he has/ had a very loyal group of followers that contributed to Trump's rise. No historical study of Trump's rise should only place the blame on Trump, we also need to study what created Mega and caused half of Americans to support him.....what was/is happening within society that created this? Millions must have been frustrated and full of discontent to latch on to Trump as their savior......do we know why?Sums him up rather succinctly....

As have many politicians from both sides.....Mainly because he lied to them.
Yeah but he can work the crowd. As have many politicians from both sides.....
It seems he did know his audience and how to manipulate them.Yeah but he can work the crowd.
He gathered many of them during his birther years when he was trying to bring down Obama over a birth certificate myth. It was an excuse to bring out the racism. And many - who must watch as much TV as he does - were impressed by his performance as the boss on the Apprentice - they took it as real. He did admit early on that he loved “low information voters”. It’s not like he wasn’t being obvious. He’s the most “authentically himself” president we’ve ever seen - but that hasn’t been a good thing for the US. They need “authentically someone else completely” lolIt seems he did know his audience and how to manipulate them.
Thanks Kimmio. I usually just lurk now and then.Hey @dreamerman nice to see you!
