Conservatives were fired or taken off the air for saying things like parents of dead children were "crisis actors". Bill O'Reilly was fired when it came out that he had settled 5 sexual misconduct lawsuits. Tucker Carlson was fired in the wake of Fox losing almost $800m in the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit.

Kimmel compared Trump's grieving process over Kirk to that of a child losing a goldfish, because that's what he sounded like when he pivoted immediately from a question about his grief to bragging about the new White House ballroom, with Kimmel noting that the forth stage of grief is "construction".

Again, Trump doesn't actually care about anyone but Trump.

Comparing Kimmel to any of these conservative pundits is false equivalence. Every department of the US government and regulatory agencies are now lead Trump sycophants. And media corporations are bowing to them.

What possible context makes what Kirk said about those women make it okay. Yes, Affirmative Action/DEI opened doors for those women. They still had to work hard to earn their degrees and earn the positions they achieved. Ketanji Brown Jackson is a Harvard grad with an impressive resume. No one handed that to her. She earned her position on the Supreme Court and is arguably one of the few actuality taking that job seriously and giving it the reverence it deserves.

Kirk was a racist.
 
I must confess; I watch no TV, don't care, but I saw the clip in question and if a comedian is prevented from laughing at something that was hilarious, well, Home of the Not-Very-Free might be a more accurate description of our southern neighbours.

It was totally goldfish. "Oooh, there's a castle". Next pass, "Oooh, there's a castle"...

No one is trying to make Kimmel a martyr....he's a victim of free speech...
And most of the debates are between 18- 20 year olds because they are focusing on recruiting the younger generation....as someone older and others who are much younger than me, that have been around....he doesn't strike me as a great debater at all.
It's awful he was shot and killed....but like he himself said.....kids and adults have to die in order to keep the right to carry guns....how ironic....do you think he meant himself included?

I am fascinated by the folk that believe that democracy will go on ... in the shadow of great powers of empire.

On the tube this noon is a lady saying that we shall have a woman president someday ... are these freedom speakers blind to the shrouds slipping overhead in the name of white sky? I see a need to raise arms and flap the wings ... and you cannot do it with one strong wing ... unless you are a fish ...or a roosters comb ... big birds?

Yet sometimes that is all you can do when in the company of the very assertive. Many examples exist that I can speak of. My daughter was out with some workmates at a pub when a strange man interrupted their diner to get her to dance. She said sorry she was with friends and he immediately started to rage at her ...

Those police shot in Pennsylvania because of a man that felt his assertive stalking was his right. There is no choice for anyone seen to be weaker of humbler! The devil rises as Satyr ... some see the twist ... many don't! Turn about the wooden stake ...

I think it’ll be interrupted and come back more resillient. Sounds crazy right now, and I don’t know how it’ll happen, but I think it eventually will. Americans ain’t puttin up wit dat for long. Growing protest - even Tucker Carlson, speaking out. Canada, on the other hand, wouldn’t notice if we slid into full blown authoritarianism as long as everyone maintained requisite politeness - so we need to pay attention and not let it happen..
