What Legacy Does Trump Leave?

Dystopian is counter to Bacon's idea of utopia that was nowhere ... isn't that something?

Then the project(ion) that pigs fly ... there is a novel about this as the head builds and is placed on a stylus ... Styx? A pool of fire unseen by a proportion ...

Phoquos on the myth ...

They sure are warnings. If only they would be heeded.

Did you know that everything in Handmaid's Tale has happened in real life somewhere?
I wonder if she ever blames herself for envisioning it and putting it out there (if she ever feels superstitious about her work) or if she feels she is just a messenger of what she already intuitively understands is underway or on its way if not stopped - and uses fiction as her medium to communicate. For me trying to communicate what I see happening it’s the latter but it’s also more scary than life affirming especially when it takes years and things start changing too little too late. It’s tiring. But fiction would be more fun. Art imitating life or life imitating art? Would be a good interview question.

You’re not the first person who’s told me I should be a writer but it means a lot to me that you said so.

I’m not the sole person seeing this stuff unfold. I’m relaying others’ observations too. I read things, my brain puts together the big picture I see unfolding based on that information. It’s not like I imagine it and it happens lol. But it can feel like that while nobody believes you.

For the record…lol… I would prefer a less weird resolution to the Trump problem than my fictional story. It’s not based on any facts I see unfolding. It was just amusing to me. Better than some uglier reality - I have no idea what will happen in November.

I suspect she doesn't blame herself or feels superstitious. I saw her in an interview where she was called a prophet. She was quite humble about that. She said she isn't a prophet. I think she is. She's well read and intelligent. She seems to see things we mere mortals miss.

She said she isn't a prophet. I think she is.
If a prophet is one who brings revelations and warning about the world, as they often do, I would say she fits. She doesn't claim to receive her revelations and warnings from God but that's just a detail. At heart she still is in a manner of speaking.
Thank you but I wish I had less dystopian vision. I really prefer humour.
There's been humorous dystopias in satires, I am pretty sure, so it would not be a first. Don't have an example handy but I think there are.

Unfortunately, the current world situation seems to inspire dystopian visions in many. It's been a common theme in literature for most of this century. E.g. The Hunger Games trilogy and a lot of other teen/YA s-f seem to hew that way.

I’m not really well read or highly educated. I have an unconventional way of absorbing bits of information and forming/ seeing the bigger picture that’s already there. Like pulling pixels together. Or seeing the big picture before all the pixels are in place but missing ones are floating around and I pull them in. It just happens - sometimes I can do it quickly which surprises myself - when something grabs my attention and I can’t look away. ADHD/ Neurodiverse trait or something - a disability superpower? I dunno. It usually just gets me yelled at. Trump, the MAiD stuff…I saw that coming but it wasn’t based on nothing. The information that it was coming was already there. I wasn’t the only person who saw it, by far, but it took awhile to be believed. It seemed unbelievable to many. Nobody wanted to believe that…it’s like a bad news health diagnosis. Also…on the latter I tried my dang hardest to get that communicated every which way I could, and others have done much more. It takes a collective effort over time. Maybe I helped in this corner a little, eventually - even after throwing a few frustrated tantrums :sneaky: sorry.

To many that cannot see that conflict between the nature of lie and myth ... the difference baffles them as the difference between weasel and ermine ... or maybe prodigal summer and the flakey blossoming of the other season ... usually dismissed as meta something ... that's a kind of parallel domain!

The "metas" can be good or bad as poles are apprehended or incarnate in the head character ... Sar a'! It is inclusive of the sematic yod ... can you identify the item? Apo stro phix as a smear on medium ...

Did I get the riddle? (Might be a little flakey I think)

I built my Gilead from what people were saying they would do should they have the power and what kind of totalitarianism the United States would be if it were to become a totalitarianism. It would be a religious totalitarianism as you now see people attempting to enact, but it would not be religion in its more benevolent form it would be religion used to coerce other people. 17th century countries usually go back to their roots and the roots of that kind of thinking in the United States are the Puritans of the 17th century. So you can have a good look at what they were saying and doing to see what kind of outfit this would be likely to turn into and let us just keep in mind that the Puritans expelled or killed people that did not fit their religious dogmas including Quakers. They were Quaker hangers and they were not very nice to indigenous people either by the way. So that's where Gilead comes from. It's not all religion is bad. In fact religion within oppressive systems is often a personally encouraging hopeful and sustaining force. But that would be the the core parts of the teachings of Christ not enactments of the Church in the 17th century. So how do people behave when they get power usually fairly badly.

And you know the former guy in the United States is telling exactly what he plans to do if he makes it back into office. The first thing he will do is is Purge the Republicans. The next thing he's going to do get rid of anybody who is not a complete foot kisser of him, and probably the Supreme Court then too because he wouldn't like the word supreme. I do not believe for a minute that he's religious in any way because he isn't. This would just be a straight out totalitarianism with a lot of papering over by somebody who holds the Bible upside down.
A small sampling of the transcript from this Margaret Atwood Interview 4 months ago.

Yes I expect an appeal too, but did I hear right that he will still be sentenced July something? Is that even if he appeals or does he have to wait for the sentence before he can appeal?
That I don't know. I would wonder about that, too.

@RobertKennedyJr

The Democratic Party's strategy is to beat President Trump in the courtroom rather than the ballot box. This will backfire in November. Even worse, it is profoundly undemocratic. America deserves a President who can win at the ballot box without compromising our government’s separation of powers or weaponizing the courts. You can’t save democracy by destroying it first. The Democrats are afraid they will lose in the voting booth, so instead they go after President Trump in the courtroom.

I’m also running against President Trump in this election. The difference is I’m challenging him on his record. His lockdowns during Covid. His atrocious environmental record. His cozy relationship with corporate America. His support for the war machine. His failure to root out waste and corruption in Washington. His service to the billionaire class. His bloating of the national debt. These are the issues that shape American lives. I'll challenge him on these things, but the Democrats won't. You know why? Because they pursue the very same policies.
