Another Trump endorsement goes down. Katie Hobbs has defeated Kari Lake for Governor of Arizona.

Some devout local ladies invited me to join them in attending "the massive prayer vigil" near Congress on Jan. 6. I declined, having no idea of what might transpire. I'd love to get their perspective on how those peaceful praying believers were enveloped in the mob that invaded Congress. And I wonder how many of the apparent angry political mob we see in TV film were actually just there to pray. The outcome must have been very shocking for many of them.

My guess would be that very, very few, if any, of the 'angry political mob' were 'just there to pray.' People who were 'just there to pray' wouldn't be breaking doors and windows, desecrating furniture and building gallows. And chanting "Hang Mike Pence!" hardly qualifies as a "prayer" in the normal sense.

They probably were a wondering bunch also!

Wonder if he's going to promise a new health insurance proposal, to be announced in two weeks.
And just for his information, America's comeback began the moment he was out of office, almost 2 full years ago.

Hopefully he'll be indicted and even more hopefully convicted before he gets to 2024. I realize that's an idealistic statement. A girl can hope, right?

At the time some church ladies invited me to attend "the massive prayer vigil" on Jan. 6, I was so disinterested that I didn't take the trouble to learn its purpose. I do know that church groups around the country mobilized to send representatives and most of these would be peaceful. There were 20,000 at the scene of the crime and tens of thousands more in other protest points. So I'm confident that the praying church ladies unwittingly provided cover for the 1-2 thousand violent protesters. Empty drums make the loudest noise; so it's a mistake to draw inferences from the volume of the chanting amid such large numbers. The point is that Trump, like the Dem. leader Chuck Schumer, bear responsibility for the violence their remarks incited on different occasions.
Now that my prediction of a Trump candidacy and the Republican takeover of the House have come true, we are in for dark inept times ahead in paralyzed governance. But in last couple of days, Republican leaders are increasingly praising Trump's presidential achievements to set up their positions that it's time for a change--and I'm delighted with that growing Republican consensus. But the fight will, I'm sure, get very ugly because Trump's base will not go quietly.

I just want him to spend at least one night in a cell, in an orange jumpsuit. Just one. I want to see him walk into the jailhouse in the jumpsuit. I’m not out for vengeance and punitive justice - but even one night in jail (as long as he doesn’t know it’s only one) by himself staring at a cement wall, in his standard issue prison jumpsuit, might be enough for him to self reflect on his wrongs. Maybe. I think a short time alone away from advantage and privilege would be the only thing that could turn that guy around. Or maybe I’m just humouring myself. He’d just come out swinging and sue everybody from the warden to the janitor.

I’m not big on punitive justice and the prison system as it is. I’m not one of those who says “let them rot in there and throw away the key”. I do think Trump is a giant toddler who needs a little “time-out”, though. And maybe to have his toys, like his private jets and some of his golf resorts, taken away. He’d still live quite well without them, I’m sure.
