What Legacy Does Trump Leave?

Bush, Jr., was hardly a towering intellect; however, gauged only by the number of totally mad statements that emerged from his mouth compared to 45, there's either a substantial difference in IQ from Jr to 45, OR Jr was at least bright enough to know to keep his mouth shut.

Also, George W was saved having to worry about his library, because his accidental legacy means that he could call it a museum, largely, and make it a 9/11 museum.

So out of curiosity I checked each one's Alma mater. I think Dubya's MBA from Harvard Business School gets more Brownie points than Trump's BA in ??? and college courses in entrepreneurship.

This might be an opportunity for you, sans your Politics, to learn from an outside pov

Oh gawd. How arrogant to assume my politics and narrow world view inform my views. Are your views so narrow?

In the interest of full disclosure I have never been impressed with Trump. He epitomizes all values I despise. He is greedy, crooked, narcissistic, liar, etc. I have never understood why people have thought he was so great.

My professional experience and my knowledge of history cause me to be alarmed by him and what he represents.

I am not objective about him at all. I wanted to hope being president would cause him to rise to the occasion and be decent. Sadly, I did not see that happen.

There are different reasons why someone votes for someone or even supports them?

I'd love to hear a legitimate, considered explanation on how he was remotely effective as president

It all comes down to what we believe in, what trade offs we can accept

All politicians are like this

It is not just about our beliefs. It is our education. If we know ANYTHING about history, we should be alarmed.

No politician is perfect. None are like Trump.

I am capable of respecting those with different beliefs. As an example, my views are different from those of GWB, Pence or Liz Cheney. I can respect each of them for different reasons.

No other "President" than Trump leaves such a legacy as this. None. Not ever.

Amen and thank goodness for that. Let's hope the prophecies/fears that someone like him who is smarter never gets in.

And GWB seems like an honourable man. He is capable of laughing at himself and is concerned about making the world better. I can respect that

It seems funny to think that, at the time, many believed that the GOP had dredged the bottom of the barrel when it came to candidates. How very different our view of the bottom looks now. I wonder sometimes if the GOP could find any less suitable candidates than 45, then I think of Marjorie Taylor Greene, and I think, "yep, there's a candidate for bottom dwelling!".

Trump is the only president in the history of the presidency who had no political experience whatsoever or military experience. None, nada, zippo.
Seems strange to have been able to shoot straight to the top of the ladder like that.
Must have had many connections.

Yes, Reagan had been Governor of California.

I was surprised too. I thought, after 2012, with Mitt the Twit and Lyin' Ryan, (47 binders full of women's names!) the Republicans couldn't sink any lower. But by golly, in 2016, they outdid themselves. I shudder to think how much lower into the swamp they could sink next time around...

To really understand the depths of evil psychotics ... one has to study the bottom line ... such are chores that Job approached in countering the temple part ... legitimate illegitimacy on their perspective as they thought they were it; the one in the center? Imagine such a circus ... as we get round it ...

On senses and the common lack thereof in a pagan sense ... is this sense-less or insane nonsense as idealized emotional actions that cannot be explained?

Can you identify anyone to take on such a state without prior consideration as a hated conception ... and yet the idea of mental abortion is totally missed by those a bit misty about physical abortion of chill'n not really desired as a counter force ... sometime chitins as crabby ... persona development that cannot be seen while in nihilist state of the hubris ... where liars etc. gather without a clue (laid out and waiting for servers)! Service curtailed ... as it doesn't serve the powers well ... it cost!

So the give 'n take ... took off! Left a one sided vector as a place for the great mystery to stores grump and Gump alike ...

The "G" here is significant as standing for Goth ... IC scary things ... non sense does not as reasoned out ... indicative that even nonsense can be justified with peculiar reasoning that is anti social! Thus the out there crew ... reasoning beyond what you'd desire ...

It's pretty bad when the once-despised are looking good.
I was thinking about an equivalent in Canada Peter McKay appears competent in contrast to the latest bunch.
Was McKay ever really despised, though? I've always kind of considered him the last real Progressive Conservative after Charest left for provincial politics. His downfall was due to his party merging with Reform and swinging hard to the right moreso than his competence. I am not sure even Mulroney, the best leader the PC/CPC have had in my lifetime (not a fan of all his policies, but he was a solid, competent leader), could have survived that. Really, I think he might have proven to be an improvement on Trudeau given a fair chance.

And W was never despised for being a bull in a china shop like Trump. Politically speaking, he was actually fairly competent and intelligent. He was rightly despised for his "America First" politics and militarism, but other than a few slips, I don't think he was ever really incompetent. And even on the "America First" front, W recognized the value of allies and of maintaining friendly economic and political ties with Europe and Canada, unlike Trump who was as hard on allies as enemies.

Folk do not appreciate the darker side of these personalities ... as a mystery it is not to be revealed as it is a hurting virtue ... truth? Truth is so far off base and foundations ... the lie being fundamental! Some of us prefer the counter ... myth as in hard myth odism! Od Ir ... or odi'r? R's being a Greek philosophical black out ... obscure hoers ... or carrier of another shade ...

I think Pete McKay was despised by some, especially for selling out the PCs and through association by his proximity to Harper. In any case he wasn't popular enough at the time to advance his career beyond the positions he held, possibly by choice. I do agree though he's an able politician and it's too bad he doesn't want a role in government any more. I've read and agreed with some of his views on things. I may have more readily accepted a PC gov't with someone like him in charge, but that's a faint hope at this point. The party seems to have reached a new low. Charest hasn't a chance and he's the safest choice.
IMHO

Still very little gathering as the portion of anti socialism remains blind ... it is a partisan thing as it splits divinely! Gods like it as it allows defeat ... thro' paranoia ...

No getting it together with deuces free ... they must be connected and learn communication of some common sense ... considered pagan by either side ...

If only we could gather something from such extremes that offer nothing (nothing being love in some projections) ...

Poke, poke ... peg in a poke ... Shiva ...

Amen. I still can't believe that the Conservatives may put Poliviere in charge. The guys sounds nuttier every time I hear him.

Imagine a populace admiring insanity ... how can this happen without diminishing intellect?

How could we know better? It is an unlikely choice when it is preferred not to know a great deal that is stored in the unknown ... a bit of difficult blarney to get the head about ... especially in weird turns!
