No it was speculation by the public including usWas it the police that gave the press that diagnosis? If so they are hardly qualified...and really a professional psychiatrist would handle be disclosing that information to the press.
Hopefully everyone has better supports, all around, including publically funded ones. It seems to me like the whole world is experiencing varying levels of grief and trauma.Hopefully these families and their larger community will have better supports in place to deal with that trauma than he did.
Ah, well I suppose we will just have to wait and wait for the outcome of the trial. No it was speculation by the public including us![]()
If there is one. There's always a chance his lawyer will try for a plea deal of some kind. Especially if there's a mental health assessment that finds he was influenced by his mental state that day. Plead guilty to some set of charges in return for incarceration in a mental health facility instead of prison or something like that. But a plea deal means no trial and probably limits on what gets made public. In a trial, all evidence is made public. In a plea deal, they could have the judge seal evidence.Ah, well I suppose we will just have to wait and wait for the outcome of the trial.

I read that the police are now buying barriers and extra support for public and community events from a US military contractor (which seems weird given the trade war). This is the consequence of both social decline and over policing (when the strong arm of the law acts as substitute for disappearing mental health and social support) that was bound to happen. When I said “expect to see more heavily guarded community events” this is what I meant. This more authoritarian reaction. It adds another sad layer.
No Canadian supplier, maybe? That's the story in IT. We really have no Canadian alternatives for much of our purchasing and few non-US alternatives.US military contractor (which seems weird given the trade war).
Unless they're leaning towards terrorism, have they completely ruled that out?No Canadian supplier, maybe? That's the story in IT. We really have no Canadian alternatives for much of our purchasing and few non-US alternatives.
But, yeah, this case does not cry out for this kind of policing. If his mental health situation had been handled better in the past, we wouldn't even be having this conversation so that's where the changes need to happen.
The police said first day that terrorism had been ruled out and I have heard nothing to contradict that since.Unless they're leaning towards terrorism, have they completely ruled that out?
