(12) The disciples said to Jesus, "We are aware that you will depart from us. Who will be our leader?" Jesus said to him, "No matter where you come it is to James the Just [Jesus' brother] that you shall go, for whose sake heaven and earth have come to exist (Gospel of Thomas 12)."
Peter fled Jerusalem after his imprisonment and miraculous deliverance through an earthquake (Acts 12:1-12), leaving Jesus' brother James in charge. The willingness of James to take the risk of staying in Jerusalem cost him his life, as he was later stoned to death by order of Annas the High Priest. The Gnostic saying in Gosopel of Thomas 12 is invented to counter the authority of Peter established by Jesus. James is a central figure in Gnostic literature.

One could say in metaphor: "I like it" or "Ja taime" to tame the excessive passions that could drive the thought off the ra els ...

Then one would have to be familiar with transliteration ... as I, J and T serve as Tous'la as the essence runs through everything and nothing ... then abyss 've integral! A collective word???? Secular Gods attempt to divide and conquer ... they are right out of ide ...

There is witty irony in some of Jesus' nicknames for His disciples. Simon here is nicknamed "Cephas" (Greek: "Petros"), the rock, despite His unstable triple denial of His association with Jesus in the high priest's courtyard. Then the risen Jesus rehabilitates him in His thrice repeated question (one for each denial), "Simon son of John, do you love me?"

Jesus nicknames James and John "Boanerges", Aramaic for "the sons of Thunder" which is idiomatic "the Thunder boys," because they once called for a lightning strike against Samaritans who drove them out of their village (Luke 9:51-56).

HOW CATHOLICS JUSTIFY PETER'S STATUS AS THE FIRST POPE

As a missionary, Peter became the first bishop (overseer) of the Church of Antioch and the Church of Rome.
Bishop succession was established through the ceremony of laying on hands, after a determation that the successor shared the same doctrines and teaching. The bishop of Rome became the first acknowledged Pope through this succession process.
Bishop Ignatius was the second in succession from Peter at the Church at Antioch. Ignatius upheld the Catholic doctrine of Real Presence in the Eucharist, which was later refined into the Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation. Ignatius applied the term "Catholic" to the first-century church.
Through the authority and continuity established by this process of apostolic succession, Peter, who was given "the keys of the kingdom of heaven" by Jesus, was retroactively deemed the authoritative equivalent of the first Pope.

LOL. Jesus as D&D magic user, eh. Or modern superhero. Not really his style, eh, even given all the jokes people make about God tossing lightning at people who displease him.

(And I will remove that reaction from my admin account. Kind of forgot who I was logged in as when I left that.)
