TV and You

I see nothing in these words to indicate a Canadian context. "When the majority of people do something (in this case watch television) - that's normal behavior. When the remainder do other than that - that's abnormal behavior." The word 'majority implies that you are talking about 'everybody' - the people of the entire world.

Seems to me that better word usage would make your meaning clearer.

Bottom line for me is - I don't consider myself 'abnormal' and truly don't care about your opinion of me.

Didn't say anything about people being normal or abnormal Kay. I spoke of behavior. There is a difference.

If we all differ ... are we abnormally, or normally different by improved definition of what we are not aware of ... or is that subconscious to us?

Thus Nous Christians come to light with each shovelful of fuel for the fires ... and the abstract burns over being separated from the absolutes ...

We had an all inclusive package with Rogers. Allegedly we bought it believing it would be a savings. Looking at the bills every month made us seriously question that sales pitch. About a month ago we ditched everything but internet and cell and went to an android TV box.

Which is great.

I can still get access to the stuff I tend to watch (mostly DC stuff; Gotham, Flash, Arrow, Supergirl) and sports (As a Reds fan I almost enjoy getting to watch my team play more often--enjoyment would rise if they managed to win more often) but what has really been worthwhile is the access to some of the Japanese Anime.

Attack on Titan blew me away.

The past few weeks have had less time for TV though as they have been gardening intensive.

Attack on Titan blew me away.

As an aside, I keep trying to watch anime. From what the anime fan crowd on rpg.net says, it should be right up my alley. I feel like I should like it. And, yet, I never get into it, even the ones they rave about. Haven't tried Attack on Titan, though I know of it and NF has it. Maybe I shall do so to see if it "sticks".

There is a trick to the Anime series that takes some getting used to.

It is the repetition. Where a series does not spend the first five minutes of every episode reliving the last five minutes of the proceeding episode there tends to be a brief narration of the current arc. Which means that in every 22 minute episode (commercial breaks round it out to half an hour but with Android TV there are no commercials) you only get 10+ minutes of original material because there are the opening and closing credits plus the 5 minute catch-up.

Which makes binge watching a bit tedious.

Typically the animation has been fairly sharp, action sequences have great choreography but then you have long periods of exposition.

Strongly considering start.ca for internet and phone. Keep the mobile phones with Rogers for one more year until the contract runs out. Then it's TV, and where I am, I don't think an antenna will do much good unless I erect a mast than is visible from space. So Kodi it is, which is what those Android boxes are running.

for the record

I don't watch TV. Haven't most of my adult life.
My kids grew up without having a TV.

Not sure what in my life I'd give up to spend time in front of TV.

So apparently the UK government wants to start treating folks who get their BBC content via the service's iPlayer streaming service without owning an actual TV (ie. cord cutters) to pay the TV tax that is collected on TV sets to finance the Beeb. Yes, for those who don't know, you pay an annual tax to own a television in the UK and that's how they fund the Beeb (vs. using general tax revenues like we do for the CBC).
