You’re right, there. However, you started this thread to temp people into personally speaking their minds at a fraught and consequential time. Regardless of, if at the end of the day you came out with some sensible critique of what’s going on, you still tried to tempt people into “jumping” first. That can be taken personally, as individuals. It’s playing dirty.

What responses were you expecting from this mainly progressive crowd, though. You were baiting. The problem wasn’t the topic, it’s how you framed it. Then ducked away to let others answer first.

No not trolling. I saw the post and commented on what bothered me. Derailing maybe. In good faith, yes, because the way you started the thread didn’t appear to be in good faith because of already mentioned reasons. You wanted others to give their open and honest feedback while withholding your own. I felt that you were waiting to challenge that open and honest feedback with plenty of “what abouts”, or leave potentially controversial opinions of others exposed, before letting us know what you really think - before filling in the blank of your own question in your own words. Actually, this time - after your MO was questioned - you eventually gave answers in your own words but you often do not. You provide links and articles without context which give the impression that you support what the article is saying. Usually you do, sometimes you don’t - we can’t tell - and that’s manipulative. If you are doing it to provoke response to those, but that’s not how you feel…again, it’s playing dirty. It’s not open and honest on your part. Even if it turns out you have similar views on a particular subject, you hold those cards close to your chest like it’s a poker game - waiting to see how others play their cards first - not an honest discussion. It’s a bit of trickery and I don’t like that under the guise of good faith discussion - especially about what is a very fraught topic at the moment. So I said something about it.
