I disagree with Graeme's political opinions from time to time - this time I totally agree - but I would certainly trust his knowledge of history over yours.
Okay put your trust wherever you like I'm not arguing with you. it's obvious I think you're blind it's obvious you think I'm blind
Were even have a good night

Blindness is dependant on what side of the dark veil one is on ... those in the fabric are like flies ... thus mysteries that should be questioned according to quality and quantity ... quantity is more important than depth to those inundated with power swings ...

The bibles say question all things and some question nothing ... it just is ... status quo without a chance of learning ... watch through the multifaceted eye ... it may be fey, flighty and ephemeral ...

It will be interesting if the entire report is released

Currently all we have is a synopsis from the AG. Who was appointed by Trump so not exactly an unbiased player

Of course no one is unbiased.

Let’s hope it leaks as it seems unlikely it will be released

Don't celebrate yet. We don't know what the report says. And it's only one investigation. Mueller did indict dozens of people in Trump's circle already. There are several other investigations still pending for several other reasons.

"Speaking to friends today about the media's mis-reporting of the WMD and Russian collusion issues I was appalled to hear one respond that WMDs were proven to exist and another that the Russian collusion charges would still be proven to be true. It's clear that the media is either under the government's control or is comprised of lemmings searching for the nearest cliff. Fortunately for the media they have created an audience that live in their own echo chambers and bring no capacity or desire to discern the truth. Contrary to Matt's conclusion, there is no reason to believe that anything will be learned by the average person from the debacle we have observed over the past two and a half years and the media need not worry about losing an audience."

Actually I do a lot a bit of reading but people like you do one sided reading, which is why you're blinded like Kimmo
Where do you get your news? Do you read all sides before making an opinion? What do you read and watch? Believe it or not, I dislike CNN. It isn't balanced from what I can see. Try watching Rachel Maddox though. Please tell me what to watch or read to understand your opinion.

It's not just watching the news, there all bias, one has to do his own research, and decern, you need to listen carefully when a senator or even a sitting president speak, their words are chosen very very carefully, and just by that one can see what their motivation truly is , and usually its self interest in the form of their sitting Power , funded by lobbyist.

Hillary Clinton once said when under Obama, " we are in an information war and we are losing that war", she was right, she understood that whoever controls the media, ( internet & TV) they would control the minds of the people.

Clinton 's s tatement was right All the major news media disseminate propaganda. So who are you reading that doesn't? The ;most honest snf intelligent newspaper in English is probably The Guardian. And it has bad moments. And it's views do not at all Jibe with yours. Indeed, anything I have seen you write suggests you are a slave to most of the news media.

C;linton , by the way, was a strong hand at disseminating fa;se mews.

Do you ever call Muslim miitants 'terrorists'? In our news, ISIS is terrorist. And so it is. Anybody who goes to war is a terrorist because they all terrorize. Muslims have been overrun by western capitalists since World War One, at least. Western capitalists deliberately bomb civilians - as in Afghanistan - and in Yemen. And in Syria. And in Iraq. And in Korea. Have you ever seen our news media (or Trump) call U.S. troops 'terrorists'? The U.S. killed 200,000 innocent Maya in Guatemala. Ever seen even a word about that in your favourite papers?

Trump said he was pulling out of Syria because ISIS had been defeated. Oh? When the U.S. intervened, it was not to defeat ISIS. It was to supply it, provide air support, etc. You didn't know that? Then I suggest you read your press of some years ago. Similarly, the 'terrorists' the U.S. is now killing were trained and supplied by the U.S. to kill Afghanis. They didn't become 'terrorists' until the U.S. invaded AFghanistan.

The U.S. murdered clergy, missionairies and nuns in Guatemala. I'll bet you didn't know that. The U.S. has invaded almost every country in Latin America. The U.S. helped to make Chile a dictatorship for ten years. So who are the terrorists?

Can you give us a sample of what you consider to be honest news media? Hint - don't cite the Washington Post.

Read the last line of your post re whoever controls the mediacontrols the minds of the people. Quite so. So where are you getting your ' truthful' news.?

Words in Nous need to be wry --- some sitting duck Precedent!

These things amuse the lesser and humble gods ... in Neigh MS they all come down ... opening voids ... like o_O
This is what we may see when standing back and looking at self ... one should know the self! Yet what is the self ... something poly tech in nature with care and responsible as different that emotional responses?

Believe in nothing ... and question it if you are struck by it ...

blackbelt, this sort of explains some of your problems.

You think all opinions are equal, to be weighed in your mind like pieces of meat on a scale...

Whereas, I look at the opinions of two people, of very different backgrounds. One of them is a retired CBC reporter, with over 80 years of life experience, still an active writer and researcher, as witness his blog. The other is a middle aged opinionated person, with a "Pool Hall Degree" and a really narrow range of media watched/read. I'm just going to give the former way more credibility than the latter.

just Listening to ben now , its long though

Here's something to think about.

How many countries has the US attacked since the American revolution? There is no exact count for U.S. invasions of others - But it is smething like one invasion for every year.

And how many have invaded the U.S.?

One. Britain invaded Washington in 1812.

Your wonderful friends in the U.S. have invaded Canada at least four times - and have threatened it as recently as 1904. (I bet you didn't know that. If you do know, tell us what the 1904 threat was about.)
graeme

p.s. You'll have a real chance to show your love of the U.S. fairly soon as rising temperatures drive millions of American north.

Here is the article I've been waiting for ...

"The more the big news outlets try to spin this report ... the more credibility they will lose," writes Chris Hedges.

Mueller Report Ends a Shameful Period for the Press ...

The charge that Russia stole the election, that Vladimir Putin has secret “pee tapes” of Trump cavorting in a Moscow hotel with prostitutes or that Trump has been a longtime “Kremlin agent,” repeated by reporters whose work I admired in the past, is demagoguery as pernicious as the vile taunts and racist tropes that come out of the White House. The press endlessly repeated such allegations while ignoring the expanding social inequality and suffering of a country where half the population lives in poverty, as well as the collapse of our democratic institutions. These facts, not Russian manipulation, saw enraged American voters elect a demagogue who at least belittles the elites, including those in the press, who sold them out. The charge that Trump was a tool of Russia is entertaining. It attracts billions in advertising dollars. It allows the press to posture as a moral crusader. But over the past three years this obsession blotted out most of the real crimes committed by this administration and the reality most Americans endure.

The mainstream press, owned by the corporations that have extinguished the democratic state and are fleecing the public, as well as destroying the ecosystem on which we depend for life, does not hold its employers to account. The empty chatter about Russia, including in The New York Times, exposes the bankruptcy of the U.S. media. MSNBC and CNN, which long ago abandoned journalism for entertainment, have breathlessly clogged the airwaves with ridiculous conspiracy theories and fantasies and used them to justify a faux crusade.

It is not only Trump who has obliterated the line between fact and fiction. It is the press. It hyped and reported allegations it never investigated or confirmed. And by doing this, repeating failures of the kind that appeared in its coverage of the invasion of Iraq, it has committed suicide. A nation that lacks a functioning press becomes a tyranny. This is not Trump’s fault, but our own.

Hate Speech.jpg

Hate Speech In The Washington Post
Prominently displayed on page 8 was a full-page ad falsely accusing Representative Ilhan Omar of being anti-semitic. “The Jews control the world with their money” – words Rep. Omar NEVER said – were splattered next to her face, leaving readers to assume it was a quote.

The ad was produced and purchased by the notorious Rabbi Shmuley, a hate-monger whose agenda is well-known: to demand U.S. compliance with Israel’s status quo of occupation and apartheid. Why is the Washington Post allowing Shmuley to purchase such an outrageous ad inciting hatred against the first black, Muslim hijab-wearing member of Congress?

  • There was massive interference in the election by a foreign power - Israel.
  • Say this naked truth out loud and you will suffer the character assassination, chanted by the unified chorus in the press and the political hierarchy of both parties, that was unleashed on Rep. Ilhan Omar.

There was clearly interaction between the Trump team and Russia, it just didn't meet the threshold of what the special council considered illegal or they didn't have enough evidence that it did. The scope of Mueller's investigation was narrow: Did Russia purposely interfere with US elections? Did the Trump team intentionally work with Russia to influence the election? Is anybody lying about anything related to those 2 things?

First, yes. Russia did have a whole operation to try to influence the US elections. Second, no. They couldn't prove that Trump knew or did anything with Russia to influence the 2016 election. They found significant evidence that his purpose with Russia was not about changing the election - he never thought he'd win - but he did do business with Russia to enrich his own interests. That did not meet the threshold of illegality with regard to what Mueller was looking for. It doesn't make it okay.

Now, there are 12 or more other active investigations in different state jurisdictions involving Trump business and finance related issues. I think he thought or thinks he can treat the presidency like an extension of his personal business ventures/ brand. He's an oligarch.

I think those other cases are going to be a test of the US judicial system's ability and will to address corrupt oligarchy.

NY city and State has let him hide in plain sight doing his "deals" for decades. He was commonly known to NYers as a huckster. But, NY is saturated with mob business and I think they just turn a blind eye to a lot of it.
