It's hard to see how this government can go on much longer without catastrophe. But dealing with the catastrophe won't help because the people dealing with it are just as dangerous and power hungry as Trump.

@Graeme Decarie - How can you be sure that I'm not Leonard Cohen and that I merely faked my death so that I can concentrate on my other life as a United Church minister. Seriously. How can you be sure?
 
I believe Comey and I believe Trump. I believe Trump asked Comey to let the Flynn Russia thing go. I also believe Trump never believes he does anything wrong - and so he didn't think that was wrong. Taking a business associate aside, away from earshot of others, and saying, "Hey, f'get abaat it." is probably normal for him -unethical, slippery, but I think people would care far less if it was his private business. He's the president of the USA. He doesn't seem to know the difference. He's the highest public official in the country. It's not something a president should do with an FBI director. Whole other kettle of fish from real estate wheeling and dealing with other wheeler dealers.

Trump said himself, in a TV interview, that he fired Comey over his worries about Russia - but that wasn't the original reason put out. So, Trump and/ or his aides on his behalf, lied about that.

The thing I find strange is, Comey leaked this memo that he says he wrote right after their meeting. He said he did it because of Trump threatening to put out tapes. Was he calling Trump's bluff - or is that exactly what happened, and he leaked the memo believing there were tapes? Then again, threatening the FBI director to leak tapes of their conversation is odd, too.

...I don't know. It's beyond predicting with any certainty. I've watched lots of movies - and this "who done it" has lots of plot twists. After "Reality Winner", was arrested for leaking classified info about Russia - this "movie" (or is it a spy drama mini-series?) got way too surreal.

I don't understand why people voted for him. He was being exactly who he is - it was on full display. He has no qualms about his modus operandi. And the fact that he doesn't know how the political system and branches of government work was obvious. And neither he nor his supporters cared. And they still voted for him. In a way...maybe he's PO'd at feeling set up to fail - because he is way out of his element - and that's creating a situation where he's getting more difficult. But the people and the system, and his political sycophants, put him there - out of his element. I don't think he really thought he'd be there and/ or that it would be difficult. It's on them, too. He wouldn't be there if he wasn't elected. As unfit as he may be - he was never hiding it. In that sense - his personality came through honestly. He was never behaving like anyone but who he is.

The whole Russia business aside...the Republicans nominated him. And he won the electoral college. There were intelligent grown-ups who could've prevented all this. I kind of think Trump thought they would stop him. If there's anything I feel sorry for him about - it's being used. By the Republicans, possibly by the Russians.

Oooo ... the things we are told we don't want to know, or shouldn't know ... and so it is because of blind leadership ... it gets pas 'd own or falls in other expressions as condescending!

Did you know in some tongues pas is a metaphor of san(s) ... dirt on topics far beyond us considering what the powers are doing to the support system around and ab'ote ... ote being an aberration of German "och" that leads to pigs with squared off heads like yaks and other brutes of head boin-king nature ...

Thus impacts we don't know ... yet ... facile ... yes, presently it will come to us on demand, due to the prior lack! Thuspickled 'och seman, or ox men if you wish ... a kiss of the eternal and they're gone ...
