Oh, we should not be so friendly to Saudi Arabia, and we shouldnt be selling them so much as toothpicks. The kingdom is full of Wahabists, which are the Southern Baptists of Islam, except worse. They are glorified warlords, hilariously repressive of women, and brutal to anyone who so much as makes fun of them. And Trump is going to give a speech about toleratant Islam there.

The hipocracy of it all with this $110B deal is beyond logic, or may it would be more accurate to say that it's far "short" of logic. How does the US gaurentee these weapons won't end up in the hands of terrorists? The answer of course is that they can't, the Saudis are buying the soul of America. Or maybe that's the end game for the US, as they continue to arm the Middle East to the teeth maybe they're hoping that they'll blow themselves to kingdom come while praying that the US damage is minimal.

Such a scary world we live in today, something has to wake us up.

Any other country with a record like the Saudis would have been cut loose and maybe even boycotted long ago. This coddling of an authoritarian state with a history of supporting radical groups like Al Qaeda should have ended with 9/11. Instead, they made Americans, the families of the victims, fight tooth and nail in court to get access to the section of the 9/11 report dealing with the Saudis connections to Al Qaeda and the attackers.

It's all about the Benjamin.

Looks like Jared, the "cute little twink" (as per Alec Baldwin's Trump impression), closed the Saudi deal. He does look like a nice boy...however...

He's also a person of interest in the Russia investigation. He's Trump's son in law. Will that tie it back to Trump or will Trump throw his son in law under the bus, and upset his daughter...and what about Ivanka? Is she complicit? ... As The World Turns... Brought to you live.

If Kushner goes down over the Russia thing, I imagine Ivanka goes down with him whether her Dad likes it or not. Which makes it unlikely The Donald will throw Kushner under a bus unless it's the only way to save his own hide.

And the irony of a member of a major US Jewish family brokering deals with a kingdom that is not exactly friendly to either Jews or Israel is worthy of a facepalm or two.

Trump loves the Saudis. Especially now, after this trip. What do the Saudis want $110bil in arms for?

They are involved in the conflict in Yemen, IIRC, and are more generally trying to set themselves up as the chief Muslim ally of the US in the region. Repressing dissident minorities within Saudi Arabia has nothing to do with it.

Yeah, right. And pigs might fly out of my butt.

Sigh. I'd love to be outraged about all this Russia stuff but I'm too busy being outraged that the US just signed deals to sell another $110 billion worth of military gear to one of the world's most oppressive regimes, a deal that would have gone ahead under Clinton, or even the much-loved Obama, just as easily. It is easy to focus one's ire on a figure like Trump but US foreign policy and their rather selective support for rights and democracy (they support them when the latter generates governments they like, otherwise they'll happily take autocratic monarchies and dictators) is a much bigger scandal and transcends any of their parties or leaders.

Who says oppression doesn't work in the real worlds ... thus some of us regress!

Alas business is primary over the people who are demos ...

You forgot to mention that I'm good-looking, too.

I was just thinking of a piece I owe to Chautauqua News. People who have the power to kill and plunder on an international scale - aristocracies, for example, and billionaires need to feel themselves superior to those they are killing and exploiting. And the people of the exploiting nation have a similar sense of their own superiority. All see it as a hereditary trait, and frequently link it to the guidance of their God(s). That makes their brutality not only acceptable - but even invisible to them.
That's been true of any empire I ever heard of. "God who made thee mighty make thee mightier yet." The U.S. has lived with a believe in its 'manifest destiny for well over a century. and the twentieth century led to the belief that God saw Americans as His chosen people - which is part of the justification for "American exceptionalism".
The concept of racial superiority seems a common one throughout history - and we're nowhere close to seeing the end of it.
Hitler was by no means an unusual figure. And his breed is still common all over the world - including here.

I don't think I'm cynical though. You don't need to be cynical to see what is wrong in murdering people by the millions so that your favourite oil billionaires can loot their countries.

Who did 9-11? There is no evidence it was Afghanistan - and no reason why Afghanistan should have done it. Indeed, almost all the participants in that attack were Saudi. And Iraq didn't do it. (Nor did it have 'weapons of mass destruction). In fact, the modern origins of conflict between Muslims and Christians go all the way back to World War One, the rush for oil, and that nice Mr. Lawrence of Arabia who killed freely so that wealthy British could put the most ruthless Saudis into power and let the Brits control all that oil. And now, the God-fearing United States has just announced a monster weapons sale to the Saudis so they finish starving Yemenis to death, and get started on killing Iranians.

This is a pretty good video that only deals with a few things that happened differently that we were told by the MSM.

If you believe anything other that what you are told to believe, you are a tin foil hat kook. Good little MSM drones, even engineers, will watch this and then still go back to believing what they are programmed to believe. It is amazing.

Yes, you are told to believe they came from Saudi Arabia.
