Hmm... as I recall it was a combination of three things, all of which hit around the same time. Can't recall at this exact moment what those three things were. One of them was definitely the treatment of refugees.
Okay, so God is not in everything, such as evil, sometimes he's just, beside it or near by.

Just to clarify, I was referring to your statement that you said God was IN EVERYTHING and wondered if that included that God was IN evil also. Post 3597

As you note, I didn't say that God was IN evil. I said that I see God in everything. Semantic issue perhaps. What I'm saying is that I can see God's presence even in the midst of evil. Perhaps most importantly, I can see God's presence in the midst of evil. If God abandons his people in the midst of evil then God isn't much of a God.
God is not in evil and I'm really surprised that any leader in the Christian Church suggested otherwise.
Okay Gotcha, but God did create Evil right?

God created people with the capacity to choose evil. To choose evil is to choose that which God does not approve of. The only option would have been for God to have created a race of robots who are pre-programmed to do exactly as God chooses with no exceptions. That, to me, wouldn't be a real relationship, nor would it really be a sign of love.
But how do you choose evil without it first being created? Or did it exist always?

Its us who divide this very good creation into the diverse factions of good and evil. By a decision we stepped out of our home with God. By a decision we step back in. Adam decided out. Jesus decided in. All about who inspires and instructs.
Adam and Eve cozy and relaxed in their natural habitat. Comesssss a whisssssper.... Are you really happy here in the house of God? A little like the school yard where temptation whispersssss... Hey momma's boy. Sure you don't want a smoke? Make a man of you.
The present lost to the seductions of the future. Come on! Let's build a tower! Right up into the high places. Take over the throne. We'll be as gods! Was that Babylon? Laws of the rich binding the poor to servitude in the building of empire? Something priests have been comfortable with through the ages. Not so with prophets.

I see God's free creative spirit in play just about everywhere I look.
Bob Marley has inspired and encouraged me for a good number of years. He sings about the injustice of any people being subservient to any other people. This from the bible story about Exodus. A pyramid of power bringing much benefit to a very few and deep suffering to a great multitude.
Bob helped me learn that resistance of abused power is not well served by anger or hatred. The songs of liberation he sings are joyful. Reminds me of King David, who danced with all his might ...before the Lord.
This is no time for sitting on the sidelines. We will either resist the misuse and abuse of power, first inside ourselves, wherever it appears or suffer the consequence of its increase. The prophets were plain persons who valued freedom, responsibility and justice. They had courage to speak out at every available opportunity. This angered the religious and political powers.
