No. Obama doesn't have that power. And Trump isn't going to be impeached. Who's going to impeach him? The Republicans control both houses of Congress and for the president's own party to impeach him they'd need a lot more than there is now. Trump being impeached (unless a lot more comes up than already has) is as likely as your belief that the electoral college would choose someone else.

Isn't that what elections are? They're supposed to be who we vote in...... to work for the people.

And I hope someday you will look back and see how you were bamboozled into believing that Trump will make a good President....

I think right now the best Obama can do is pass laws that cannot be reversed....like offshore drilling, etc.....

Obama can't do anything that can't be reversed. All he can do on his own without Congressional legislation is issue Executive orders. All that's required to reverse an Executive Order is another Executive Order.

We'll see. What he is trying to do is deflect from the real things - to discredit any media that comes up with real things. He tried to discredit CNN and Buzzfeed in the same statement. Who really cares about pee-gate? Nobody. Nobody cares that he would do that or not do that because he's a germaphobe. (That settles it then - none of the other problems exist...???) People care that he suggested on TV that Russia hack Clinton's emails. They care that he praises Putin over his own current president and predecessor and says things like "Russia says it's false!" And that is supposed to set the record straight on all the questions people have about Trump? There's definitely something fishy about it. He sits there with a pile of envelopes claiming they're all the information about his business affairs but he won't disclose what's in them. The guy plays the long con and he is manipulating people who are disaffected with a narrow world view and/ or those who are staunch party loyalists. It will be clearer soon. If Trump has the power to gut what's left of democracy and the safeguards people take for granted, surely Obama had enough power to prevent it. If he didn't have that ability, that's a serious flaw.

Nobody knows if he will make a good president yet. He is probably the least likely (if he becomes president) president in the history of the USA. I believe he is sincere in wanting to be the best president ever.

He has said some inappropriate things and so have we all.

You couldn't be the president, you want to kill the millennials. The lying press would find that quote and probably worse, and if they couldn't they would make something up. And the whole world would "know" how evil you are.

It sounds like news. And if the conversation was recorded, it's verifiable. I would imagine that Trump is aware of Mattis' stand on important issues already. As well notice that the person who started pee gate was in the room. So a lot of what you see and hear before the 20th, if and when Trump gets the keys to the White House is going to have a level of fiction attached.

As far as Russia, trump and Mattis will want to appear strong. He says he is going to start building more nukes. Making an agreement with Russia to build less nukes later will cost nothing, but a good bargaining chip.

Midnight regulations are a form of Executive order that can be effective if they start something. Once something is started it's pretty hard to stop. However, starting things also requires money, usually, and the money has to come from Congress, so any midnight regulations have to come from funding that's already available. And, in any event, ordering a ban on offshore drilling for example, doesn't start anything and is easily reversed by simply lifting the ban.
 
Besides, it is hard to take seriously people who call for bans from their petroleum heated homes from their petroleum derived computers in their petroleum based clothing with their fridge full of food that would never be grown or transported without petroleum.
 
I don't understand all the concern about fake news posted on the web by oddballs. Far, far the worst fake news, propaganda and outright lying is not on the the web. It's in your daily newspaper, and on TV and radio.

Because there's a large and growing cohort who get their "news" from rumours on Facebook, and oddballs spreading memes - and their worldview from reality TV - who've probably never read a paper. Team Trump - and it looks like Russia helped back the effort to subvert the election, tapped into that and manipulated the rumours and the memes, and made the whole thing into a reality show. They managed to turn the election into some kind of gag to deflect from real issues. And young pranksters had a ball with it, spreading the meanest hoaxes they could think of to hurt Hillary.

As for radio...Alex Jones has a radio show/ Internet TV show called Infowars...and he makes stuff up completely from his imagination. He started a cult following...and used to make claims like the world was being taken over by alien lizard people. And then other conspiracies he helped push, like birtherism, to try to delegitimize Obama.

Re the Clinton Foundation and Haiti, don't get too weepy about that. The U.S. has controlled Haiti for most of a century. It has used its own military as dictators, then used native thugs as the dictators. It overthrew the only elected government Haiti ever had. ( The current gang was elected largely by fraud.) It has, for all of those years kept Haiti in abject poverty - for the benefit of big business.

There is every possibility that Trump might not finish his term - and many ways it could happen. But that won't matter. The only possible replacement is the Democrats - who are as slimy as the Republicans.

Is Haiti ... like hell ... as mixing bowl for hatred ... if only someone with prescience could extract a rational solution ... which we can't as church schooled in despising the epistemological tree ... few even search the understanding of the word that is quite ... well, philosophically deep ...

Does this simulate negro spiritual ... a dark, abstract song for freedom to have balance ... dream space ...Liebestraum ... tis a Gothic expression ... like old English spinners ...
