I notice that Donald Trump is now tweeting about how his ratings on The Celebrity Apprentice were so much better than Schwarzenegger's debut. You'd think he'd have more important things to think about. From The Donald's Twitter account within the last hour (on the day he's being briefed about Russian interference in the election): "Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got 'swamped' (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT. So much for ... being a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14. Now compare him to my season 1. But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary." Obviously he needs to give up the presidency and save The Celebrity Apprentice. Do it, Donald. Just do it.

Yes, He's chosen a great bunch of thieves and thugs for his administration.
Precisely what has he done in the way of leadership? We get daily twitters that are mostly slogans of no clear meaning. We get grand gestures of forcing car manufacturers to locate in the U.S. That will create some jobs - but not many. He has frequently insulted China - and I see no reason to call cheap insults 'leadership'.

Hi all...

If our neighbour, Mr. Trump, is garnering as much attention in other places, as he is here, we may assume he knows at least a little about occupying the centre of attention. Something Herod the Great was brilliant at.

From my perspective the religious authorities endorsing Trump are well represented by the Jerusalem establishment in the days of Herod. Pharisees and Sadducees had private opinions regarding Herod. Publically they supported him and benefited by his generous reciprocity. Herod made Jerusalem great.

Then, just as now, there was another influence in the land. The Christian gospels represent this in their narratives concerning the identity and purpose of Jesus the Nazarene. A common man from an obscure corner of the religiously endorsed imperial domain. A nobody. Hard to imagine that powerful priests and politicians wanted Jesus dead. No harder than to imagine powerful priests and politicians resistant to the emergence of truthfulness; as light over a sea of darkness.

Like Mordecai, the uncle of Esther, I am unable to bow before the decree of God's anointed. This will bring me, with all those standing in the same light, into the place of peril.

Speaking out against the exploitation and oppression of creature and creation will not please the rising corporate power. It will not please many in Christendom. Both will, first passively and then aggressively, resist and refuse the opportunity for healing now present in the face of peril. That resistance will be experienced by each who decides to refuse the totalizing claims of power in word and in deed.

Counted the cost?

George

President Elect Trump has already kept jobs in America, and is moving ahead with his plan to have the wall built. He has appointed some excellent leaders to his cabinet. Great days lie ahead for the United States of America.
