Well, for openers, even you don't much about those 'donations'. For a start you don't seem to know that the very rich don't pay income tax. If they did, and if they paid more, the poor wouldn't need their charity. And how much do they give the poor?
It's much, much less than the huge sums we all pay them from our taxes. Hint - Alberta oil barons are getting billions to pay for their pipeline. And that can only come from the taxes the rest of us peasants pay for.

Ever heard of Irving Oil in N.B.? It demands and gets donations from the politicians they pay off.

Ever wonder why the Liberals and Conservatives have lots of money for election, while other parties have very little?

Ever think?

And do you ever have a source for your obviously unresearched statements?
 
I agree with blackbelt. Graemes attitude is often condescending and disrespectful of others. He does not seem to want to engage in true discussion. I have found it not worthwhile to address him. Wouldn’t call him satan, though, which also does not seem to be respectful.
 
I think it's Andrew Yang who has stated that Amazon pays no taxes. If they gave even something like 1% of their profits, it would make a huge difference. I have no idea how anyone would force them to do so. I would imagine if all those who evade taxes in shelters etc paid 1%, we'd see a big difference. It would work to fund a lot of health care and education for one thing.
 
well, you know, I'd like to know the sources for your wonderful statistics. How much do the very rich pay to help the poor?
How much do they avoid in taxes? What would you consider to be a basic salary? How does that compare with basic salaries in Canada now? Do the very rich give election money to the Liberals and Conservatives? How much? Why do you think they do it? Is it just a desire to enhance democracy? U.S. oil companies just love the U.S. wars - as in Syria, Iraq, Venezuela and maybe soon Iran. Is that motivated by a desire to help those countries? If so, why has the U.S. destroyed democracy and/or murdered millions in those countries?

And could you please tell us where you get your proudly studied information.
 
Oh, and if the rich are so good to the poor, how come the long history of British, German, etc. in China brought nothing of horror, starvation, mass murder and poverty. And how do you explain that in the past 70 years that China, with very, very few of the world's wealthy, has become a world leader in trade, quality of housing, education...... (And yes. I have spent time teaching in China - and I have seen enormous progress.)

And do you know who the best friends of HItler were in his rise to power. Yes. They were with him every step of the way. Where do you think Hitler got the money to rise from a failed painter in prison to mass murderer and world threat in less than ten years.

Yes. That's probably why they almost always rated me the best teacher in the history department.

But I gave you questions. How come you don't ever say anything for which you have any evidence?

Oh, I'm sure. I'm really, really sorry I criticized a man with so much wisdom. Damn. All my life wasted when I could have been a real estate dealer. And they're really, really smart. And they have gumption that us peasants just cannot ever acquire.
