Stephen Colbert was great on the Emmys tonight. There were, not surprisingly, a few Trump jokes. Sean Spicer came out on stage. lol! Good sport.

Hummer and Levite is good in a place of ankh ... that's reality ... the holy land where the Hebrews went when leaving the land of imagination where all worked at Godsnow what that redactively dispel't rye Eire? That's us a flaw ... stinkers?

I've been reading that people are very upset with Colbert having Spicer appear on the Emmys (I also read that it was Colbert's idea.) I think they're missing the point. Sean Spicer, with his performance did some or all of the following...a) admitted he lied (and, as it turns out, lied again about Emmys crowd size as part of the joke). b) he was the butt of the joke but didn't realize it. At least, not the full scope of it. c) will get under Trump's skin d) tactfully got around whatever loyalty clause he signed for Trump by doing this. e) Colbert made a fool of Spicer and Spicer made a fool of Trump. I think Colbert was prepared to take heat from this, on purpose. He's not stupid.

It was smart political satire. Spicer was Trump's paid ventriloquist doll. Everyone already new that. And he couldn't take it anymore and he quit - he didn't want to work with "the Mooch". He'd damaged his own integrity enough. And, isn't he being questioned by Mueller? There's probably a lot he can't openly say but he said a lot in that satire regardless - I think that was the point of having him there.

And people are having a conversation about what he did and whether he should be forgiven and whether Spicer has now been normalized...which is a necessary conversation. I guess they missed seeing Jimmy Fallon interviewing Colbert:

This is a must see/ read. A NY Times article with video (3 short 3 minute videos if you scroll down just to watch each one) from someone who went undercover as an alt-right follower, in Europe and met with some of the minds behind it. This is exactly why I am very skeptical about the idea of extending free speech to include hate speech on college campuses in the U.S. Even anything resembling alt-right behaviour and rhetoric. No matter how ironic/ sardonic/ satirical it appears to be. That's just their hook. People like Milo, Shapiro, Coulter - are 'celebrities' fronting this horrific 'movement', getting people interested under the guise of free speech. The alt right is not bemusing. It's becoming clearer. It is not funny. It's frightening - straight up neo nazi fascism. They do not have ideas worthy of giving public space for intellectual debate to.

Everybody has a plot, scheme, plan of some kind ... according to thesaurus often sacred (conspiracy) because of the nature of reality ... all else is imaginary and complex ... out of here ... and thus I am prepared to go ... and thus he went!

Real folk believe this a virtue 've phoqah up in a state of mind ... heaven? Complex, or indeterminately bre'd ... international communion?

Tis yet to come ... but the point probably mist again ... due to clouded virtue in reality ... God buried it ... to create a vailed story ... valentine? Tis buried in unseen points on the edge theory ... the ry' Theo's is ... that's Ur ... trans parent?

Something a sol passes thro' ... and this goes round ... sometimes excessively as politic ...

What's God? No one knows ... too far out ...

And the Twitter battle between Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-dum continues.

North Korea says Trump’s tweet is a declaration of war

If this is the quality of leadership (and I'm nailing both sides, to be clear) we are going to be getting in the 21st century, a nuclear holocaust may not be a bad thing. The dinos took 100+ million years to hit the end of the line and it was no fault of theirs. We look increasingly likely to be our own undoing, whether it's environmental catastrophe like climate change or blowing outselves to smithereens, and have managed it in well under a couple million (assuming we confine the blame to our own genus and species).

Suppose it is part of the worship of pure emotions and the put down of wise roundabouts? You know ... more intelligent environments ... an out-of-here cognizance?

This can be quite alarming. Hopefully saner and calmer minds will prevail.......

I grew up in the Cold War and this is almost scarier than that. At least the leaders, even Reagan in the end, weren't raging at each other like spoiled brats (which, TBH, both Trump and Kim are).

I agree. I think we're around the same age.

I struggle with knowing that a tough approach is appropriate in many instances. Calling this a tough approach though does it a disservice. It's a dangerous pissing match.
