George said it in his sermon. Just be kind to one another. Wherever that's happening, let it happen. Make room for it to happen. It's that simple.

If we actually achieve world peace, what good would it do to then go back and fight over who gets credit? Maybe that's one of our problems.

"Herbert Spencer was an incredible prophet and a magnificent defender of laissez-faire. Among his numerous works is The Man Versus The State, first published in 1884. That book launched one of the most spirited attacks on statism ever written. He ridiculed the idea that government intervention of any kind "will work as it is intended to work, which it never does." He drew on his tremendous knowledge of history, citing one dramatic case after another of price controls, usury laws, slum clearance laws, and myriad other laws which, touted as compassionate policies, intensified human misery. Below is one of his essays that explores the principles of self-government, which Henry David Thoreau defended in his seminal essay, Civil Disobedience." ....

.... "See here, then, the predicament, a system of moral philosophy professes to be a code of correct rules for the control of human beings — fitted for the regulation of the best as well as the worst members of the race — applicable, if true, to the guidance of humanity in its highest conceivable perfection. Government, however, is an institution originating in man's imperfection; an institution confessedly begotten by necessity out of evil; one which might be dispensed with were the world peopled with the unselfish, the conscientious, the philanthropic; one, in short, inconsistent with this same "highest conceivable perfection." How, then, can that be a true system of morality which adopts government as one of its premises?"

Do those sustaining laissez-faire ... leave the po' and de middl'n class alone or should they be denied existence?

Spirit equals energy, but it's sentient and willful and purposeful energy.

Sol equals opposing energy ... thus the proto Niches! They are just spots or pixels in the projection arising under the square rule! Still flat out greed ... even on paper ... except for the denied and eliminated ... out of here as Black Swans! Outliers to the in lyres?

Immaterial communes ...

Pretty much sums it up:

Not only that, Trump just blamed Democrats for not getting the bill through Congress. Even though Republicans control Congress. By 21 seats.

How does he even think to try shifting blame that far?

Had a call tonight from a friend of mine in Kentucky. He called to tell me that it was 75 degrees there and he had to cut his grass today. Also - he told me that a lot of people in Kentucky who voted for Trump and want Obamacare repealed love the insurance policies they've bought under the Affordable Care Act. The ACA they love; Obamacare they hate. But they don't realize that the ACA is Obamacare. I could only chuckle. Sadly.

Do you too believe in the existence of delusion and images that are mystifying to a great portion of the population paradigm ... (th)eM others? How are the common people to know better? --- Erasmus!

The man is incorrigible. He has no shame. Regardless of what one might think of the politics of this...the optics of it, I find funny. Donald Trump gave Merkell a fake invoice for NATO spending? Could be 'fake news'. But I don't think it's beyond him to do that. Merkell, with good sense, is supposedly ignoring it. ...I find this stuff funny! Can you imagine him printing out and handing her an invoice...for Nato! :ROFLMAO: She's so used to stoic and boring meetings she probably laughed all the way home at the absurdity of it. I hope other world leaders - and everybody else concerned - just basically ignore antics for 4 years (or however long) - don't boil over - and laugh, keep calm, and carry on.

Kimmio - how come you're not indignant that the U.S. has killed millions and refugeed tens of millions? Aren't these crimes more important that giving Merkel a fake invoice?

That goes to show the effect of consistent lying.

My understanding is that Obamacare does not work for everyone, but the double standards here are obvious unless it's not in your best interests to notice them. Obamacare was "rushed" and "jammed down peoples throats", said the Republicans. So they tried to go even more partisan, faster. And failed.

America needs a rational, bipartisan conversation about health care. They have to decide if they want to take care of each other, or if those who can't take care of themselves are SOL. Or if the answer is somewhere in-between, they need to find what that answer is. But the assumption that the other side is evil and wants to destroy America needs to stop.

It depends on what you wish to see ... in that put forth by anyone appearing as caring ... they could be just Icarus ... a fallen angel ... but learning ... to be a Duke ...

Well, I wasn't actually accusing Trump of any crime with the invoice. I was only pointing out the absurdity. Does every post in every thread on politics have to discuss war, Graeme?

No. But do you think every post should look for jokes about Trump while ignoring the mass murder that's been conducted by almost every U.S. president since World War Two? People getting all in a tizzy about Trump. Where were they when the U.S. was killing over a million people in Iraq? Where were they when a series of presidents killed somewhere over five or six million in Vietnam? Where are they when the U.S. is bombing and starving people in Yemen? So far, Trump is a sweetheart compared to most of the predecessors.
That's the mistake you make with obsessing on Trump. The American problem runs deep into the mass of the whole nation.

What is the solution? Is there a solution? How to make the Americans stay home and take care of their own people? Ditto Canadians, Brits, and every other nation that pours out of its own borders to 'fix things' elsewhere in the world or to claim territory that is already claimed by some other nation?

a lot of the people joking are young voters who weren't around since Vietnam. They were born after it. Why did my parents' generation turn into corporate shills to make billionaires who run the world richer, when their generation were the ones who protested Vietnam and Nixon and brought about civil rights and fought for women's equality? Why are they the ones who largely voted for Trump, too? I don't know.

Steve Bannon was a progressive hippie. We must be living in an alternate Universe.

As for the comedy - people joking to get through their fear and because humour brings people together.

I don't see how telling jokes about Trump accomplish anything. As well, we cannot accomplish anything by focusing on Trump.
It's not just Trump. And getting rid of him would solve nothing. The whole system is rotten.
As for Vietnam, the protests accomplished nothing. The protesters didn't care about the Vietnamese. What they cared about was the casualty list - and the existence of the draft. The U.S. effectively ended such protests by relying more on bombing, and filling up the ranks with mercenaries for its future wars.
