“The Holy Father is aware of the findings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which he takes seriously. As far as call to action #58 is concerned, after carefully considering the request and extensive dialogue with the bishops of Canada, he felt that he could not personally respond.”


Holy Father? really ?
 
That quote isn't from Trudeau but from a letter written by the Conference of Canadian Bishops and they, naturally, refer to the Pope as the Holy Father. That is rightly one of his titles in the church. And don't forget Trudeau is himself RC so referring to the pope by that title would not be out of line for him, either.
 
Oh, and to address the topic, I am disappointed, too, but hardly surprised. As much of a reformer as Francis has been, the current RC administration is still more interested in distancing themselves from their past than dealing with it. It will likely take someone even more radical and courageous than him to get them to the place where most of the Protestant churches have been for a while in this matter, ie. apologizing and moving towards a mindful reconciliation with those hurt by the schools.

What did you call your dad unsafe?
 
Jae ---if you have a problem with what the scripture says you will again have to take that up with God ---not me -----I actually called my Dad by his first name ----
 
I said "Dad", and he was very much "Dad" (dear goddes, the 'rescuing' he did of me was endless, especially when it came to being stranded by unreliable cars), never "Daddy", but I often felt of him as "Father", in that his role and gender gave him a status that clearly had more weight than my mother's in the wider world.
 
I called my dad a few choice words growing up, but never dad , in my teens, at 23 I walked out on him and we didn't speak or see each other for the next 5yrs , after these yrs it was still not a peaceful relationship. I was the back sheep of the family.

Today I see a different man, a man that God gave me some understanding into him, his attitude hasn’t changed , but now me being the black sheep has ended up being his caregiver, who has dementia at 83. And now he constantly looks for me .

I can honestly say that if God had not given me some understanding into why he is the way he is, I would have not forgiven him and I would have still been in turmoil all these yrs , instead im at peace with it.


So today I call him dad

Interpretation is prone to space-time and illumination (light of the situation --- Einstein on the separation of mortal and immortal ... a walk in the dark forest may enlighten one about shadowy goings on that we don't know about ... tis extensive as any ham presented by O' tan ... Odin? Even Bambi was confused about intrusions ... natural poking by man ... dispersed Dough and the stag ... well heh was gone too --- Lucy Maude Montgomery (the stag at eve had drunk his fill ...) Imagine a beast with a horny head!

Tis stuff overcomes intellect, data and wisdom ... the lesson of life observing emotional extremes! Spirited folk? Stop, look and listen ... the railroad to heaven is coming ... and you too will be railroaded out ... at sea they call it emotional Shanghaiing --- by a great fisherman ... looking to load up the bodes ... different tense of biding!
 
My dad left home when I was 5. He was an alcoholic then. Still is now.

For years I tried to keep him up to speed with where I was and what I was doing. When I turned 20 I realized our relationship was mostly one way.

I stopped initiating contact. Every time we moved we sent him new contact info. It never resulted in co tact from his side. The births of three grandchildren didn't change that.

The last time I saw him was at a funeral for a cousin a year before we returned to NL.

I called him dad because that is what he is. When asked for my father's name on forms his name is the one I print out. Does that offend God and violate scripture?

No it doesn't.
 
I think it's fair to assume scripure would mean that holding a man in the same regard or stature as Most High, could be problematic.
