I've missed a lot of action on this thread. @KayTheCurler I hope hubby is recovering or better, recovered. I hope granddude is also better. In fact, i hope all is well. Hugs

I am off to SJ in the near future for another CAT view of aortic valve that was new to me ... the new one has a foul indication expressed ... as in falcon language, a beater ... flappers in the wind?

Nothing is secure for those believing such information ... anachronistic winds? Passes unseen --- Timaeus! Steady aeus it goes ... no there are wrinkles --- Ein Stein (not a crock but a curios character).

The lesson! Expect dips and dip pies ... there is a sector that is without any grasp what so ever! On another subject is the paradoxical statement that if you learn something you begin on the journey to be sentient that you know very little ... The End, or Ci 't Phini! There are others that say much the same in other tongues ... remember the Pi ...

Kay I too would be feeling very concerned about those continuing symptoms. Hope he has a follow-up visit soon with the doc. So hard when others don't share your perspective & discount your life experience & accumulated wisdom.

There is always an ambulance - very costly. A friend was charged about $200 to go 6 blocks in town!

I scrolled down my phone list and discovered that most of our friends are getting quite old. Tried to get hold of some youngish ones without success so far. Maybe the hospital have a list of volunteer drivers? I'll just wait and see while practising breathing!
Taxis would be cheaper than an ambulance. I’ve given up driving and I’ve used taxis, although not extensively.

There are driving services for people with health problems, but I’ve found the trick is are they available? They typically drive people like dialysis users. So the time and length of appointment is known well in advance. They’re not good for unpredictable situations. Maybe I just didn’t look enough?

If you're in a situation where a slow response in Emerg is likely to cause a negative outcome, you're better off biting the bullet and calling the ambulance. They triage ambulances over walk-ins.

I just read a news item that a boy called a fire truck for his brother because of the slow response time lately, instead of an ambulance.
His brother was saved this way.

I’m discovering all sorts of downsides to aging. It can get expensive. One has to consider selling their home. I’m at that point now.
That could be in our future too. Problem is - the house if ours and has no meaningful costs attached. If we sell it there will be horrendous rental fees to pay over and over and over.

Thanks for the expressions of concern re my family.
Grandude continued having bouts of diarrhea and vomiting until he realised that it seemed to be triggered by one of his meds. Daughter phoned the hospital who said it would be ok to drop it. Within twelve hours he was getting close to normal!
Hubby had a trip to the city and had his kidney stone 'blasted'. He is still ''delicate' and taking a variety of meds to help with the pain of passing the bits and pieces. Now we wait to hear what the plan is to deal with his aneurysm.
Cruising daughter came home today - Covid free.

So - we missed a week of camping with a couple of our kids and the youngest grandude. Also one kid's birth mother and partner, who we really like and enjoy. She has a kidney disease that unfortunately got shared with our son. She expects to need dialysis within a year, our son is ignoring the symptoms.

it has been hotter than we like lately and the a/c isn't functioning. Lots of sipping cold drinks and lazing around,

Those of you thinking of selling your home might be better off with a little reverse mortgage to cover the costs of getting a little more help, with the grass, the driveway, other maintenance.

I expect the services available depend a lot on the place you live. We have no taxi service (they shut down because of the Covid rules creating difficulties.
I have heard a comment about a driving service but have no idea how it is accessed. Guess I should do some asking around. I know my daughter drove her son to the city for his appendicitis event Hubby was driven by one or other of our sons. I can't do things like that as my vision isn't great. It would have to be pretty dire before I'd use an ambulance for a ride to the city.

I see a news article on UBER and how they tried to bribe authorities ... an apparent common item in the world as it lies here.

Now Rogers states that tics have attached to their system for scamming ... possibly not new bugs! All monsters have tics ... even elephants have this fleece about them ... fine hares?

I discovered this because a friend of mine has a heart issue at present, a dissected coronary artery. She called me up a week ago and asked me if I'd take her to the hospital, which I did. However, it was a weekend night, I live in a biggish city with a pretty large hospital, and when Emerg is hopping, the waits are nighmare-ish. She got not as much help as she should have, although all the follow-ups basically shouted "OMG, why did they not do X and X and keep you in?" Subsequent convos pointed out the different triaging and testing on patients arriving by ambulance, so that's what she's doing next time she feels wonky and the nitro isn't helping.

There are multiple fabrics of possibility given the efficiency urge to avoid reading the reports at hand because the specialist already believes they have the problem identified ... when in reality they ignored critical details ... critical and crisis are a problem item in todays view and thus often not observed ... and thus the power of denial allows psychotics!

This happened to me in recent days thus stuff deteriorated in my domain. Tis is the unconscious solution to the populace as a democratic end of the thing to be put down ... with all the sacred skills! Soon the numbers will diminish ... as the gods put numbers on out heads for erasure ... sometimes just stars diminished into the great black veil ... the Maw?

You'd think we'd know better but one faction of gods declare this must be wiped out ... as demos undesirable ... at least to those not wishing to contemplate HU's carrying out this crock of crap ... it piles up and develops PHD's in a sector of hard cases as cast off!

If the skin is warty enough they will not touch hur ... as psychic ...

Yes, I know what you mean. You could downsize to a smaller place nearer the city.

I’m on my own and I couldn’t deal with the aging house (I have 2 now-grown kids, that’s why I bought the house). I moved to a condo just a few miles from the house. The house sold for enough that I was able to buy the condo outright, so no mortgage.

The only case where you’d have to “rent” is going to a care home. Apparently they’re all monthly.

No taxis due to covid? They’re still operating in Victoria, BC. I guess every place is different.

There are new companies called Uber and Lyft (I think those are the names), where private citizens effectively become a taxi with their own car. You use a computerized app to book them. They don’t operate in many places as the taxi companies protest.

But I’d be concerned about riding with total strangers. At least with a taxi, there are records of which driver picked you up.

You would think there might be volunteer drivers. I wonder if there are insurance problems. That would not surprise me.

That’s awful. The medical system in general is declining. There are shortages and long waiting lists. After my family doctor retired I was out of luck as there are zero family doctors in Victoria, BC who are taking on new patients. Eventually I found one through a friend. The other options are things like Telus Health, where you speak over the phone, Not suitable for most health problems.
