Apparently, it's not difficult. My dog walker, a retired college professor, decided to write a slightly autobiographical novel upon retirement, published it himself. I actually bought it (I think it cost me $3.11), and was a good story, nicely formatted.

A guy on my NSFW board has done some self-publishing on Amazon. Encouraged me when I was contemplating compiling a series I wrote into a novella for publication but I backed off. Realized I needed to put in a fair bit of work filling some story gaps and rewriting the existing material to flow better. If I could have just proofread and packaged up what I already had, it might have happened.

Hope the judges agree. :giggle: I certainly feel good about this one. The entry I am preparing for the Full Length story competition is good, too, IMHO but is fairly dark (cosmic horror).

And what may be my final entry in this competition (though there is still time to sneak in another very short one if inspiration ever strikes me), a spooky tale just in time for Hallowe'en. Leave the lights on for this one...

but will leaving the lights on help? Great story! Makes me wonder if Hugh is really friend or foe.

If you check the comment, Molly (the mod who approved the story) made the same comment. And, yes, I toyed with doing something more with him but with the length limits, I decided that could go. Given how much effort it took to get this into shape, going up 3650 words, the next limit, wasn't happening.

Yes, I noticed she had said the same thing...I think it's better not knowing for sure.

Gaiman's feelings about "forgotten gods" are sorta poignant, and those who appreciate the poignancy of a forgotten goddessence are sorta the race that knows Joseph, lol.
