That's probably the most honest thing anyone can say about love, we know it when we see it, we can measure its effects, but the thing itself remains beautifully mysterious. Maybe that's why the fate versus destiny debate felt so unsatisfying. We're trying to categorize something that might be bigger than our philosophical frameworks can capture.

But even if love defies complete understanding, the question of how we relate to it still matters. Whether we approach love as something that happens to us or something we participate in shapes how we live, how we treat others, and what kind of society we build.

Kimmio is right that we need structures that support choosing love, not because we've solved the mystery of what love is, but precisely because it's so precious and elusive that it needs protecting.

Love takes on so many facets including the love to do away with anything strange (foreign intelligence)? Reminds me of that Classic movie about learning to love the bomb ... reverse it and envision blowing up hate rather that any alien relations!
