Didn't watch, but "Dead Internet Theory" is feeling more and more true.
Bots are informing and reinforcing the thoughts of so many users on so many platforms. New accounts are everywhere. They often hide their account histories. Some are old accounts and you can see the went dormant and then sprang back to life with a completely different style of content.
Some videos, for example, are obviously AI and they don't fool many, but they fool enough to propagate through communities of unsophisticated people, inflaming their passions about subjects they don't understand but feel passionate about.
These are useful tools for outrage generation and disinformation.
And sometimes, there is no ulterior motive - it's just for clicks, engagement and ultimately profit. But it's still not right, it's often inaccurate, and it's rewarded by platforms.
Truth, accuracy and substance are being replaced by lies, inaccuracy and anger. Because making that content is easy, it drives engagement, and it's popular.
And there is nothing obvious we can do about it. We are actively losing our seniors to this stuff. I see it in my own family.

Christian evangelists are some of the worst offenders online.
Christians themselves are major consumers of this stuff. If you can convince your flock that intelligence is bad, that evidence isn't important, and what you feel is right is truth, then you have yourself the beginnings of a human bot army.
