Sites on Google

I have some concerns about a site that used member's information including full names and has public access when we were all informed it would be private.
As far as I can tell, so far the only way for the public to access this though is to have a specific link and they can then click around to certain parts from there.

How do things end up on google though and what kind of timeframe would it take for it to appear?
I know that it took a while for wondercafe2 to appear.

Does it matter that the main forum page is inaccessible? The forum is a part of a larger website and most of the website is public.

I have brought this to the attention of the admins but I expect a slow turn around time to see changes. Hopefully our info won't end up being made public. I'm annoyed as I offered to volunteer for some things but I specifically said I wasn't comfortable having my full name out there if I did, so would probably use Chemguy's last name. Now my real full name is on the forum.

Google spiders have the same searching ability as regular (non-member) users on a forum like this one. Anywhere a regular person can go, Google can go. Behind a password, Google can't see. Not to say those requirements can't be removed by an admin in the future.

The original WonderCafe had an issue like that in its early days.

re search engines such as google / bing: Chansen is right. The spiders are searching sites constantly.

I would be considered about other members seeing the information, so, address that.
In the meantime, I would pull the information.

Thanks. I contacted them about this a bit less than 3 weeks ago. I hadn't checked the privacy of the forum, I assumed all was good. Someone posted a link on facebook though and I could access, click around, etc. without signing in. I think checked profiles, and yep, those with the full names in the URLs (and full names in the profile unless someone edited it, and all members of the organization are signed up so even those who haven't ever signed in have profiles) are there.

*sigh* I am super frustrated. I had offered to be a beta tester but they didn't take me. I don't trust facebook, so I have a second account where my real full name is not used. Someone should be able to trust an organization like this though. They took our info, made a profile for us with full names and then just sent out the info.
