And that is the truth ----- through the Holy Spirit these teachers and apostles were able to to equip the Saints ------there Jaebius

The Holy Spirit is known as the Spirit of Christ ------you have Christ in you

Romans 8:9 AMP

9 However, you are not [living] in the flesh [controlled by the sinful nature] but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God lives in you [directing and guiding you].

But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him [and is not a child of God].
And today I believe the Holy Spirit equips certain individuals so that He through them can equip today's Christians. I believe some of those equipped teachers are seminary professors. I personally feel really blessed to have been taught by those professors I had

And when two ministers or pastors or whatever you want to call them who both claim to have that "indwelling of the Spirit" disagree (because I have seen it happen)?
How do you know that the 2 Pastors had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit ----there Mendalla are you able to know who is saved and who isn't -----

Anyone with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit will never veer from the truth of the Scripture ----Period --- God does not contradict His own word ---who is Jesus -----

Now that being said -----much depends on how Spiritually Mature the Saved Minister is in their walk with Christ -------The Holy Spirit will only give a person the interpretation that they can understand as to where they are in their Maturing phase of Spiritual Understanding

A New Born Again Minister is on the Milk of the Scripture ------they are not as mature in their Spiritual understanding as a Minister who has advanced in their Spiritual understanding of the Scripture -and is on the meat of the Scripture -----so there will be a different in their Spiritual understanding but they will not veer from the Truth of the Scripture -------if they do then they are not true Born Again Ministers -----

1 Corinthians 3

The Church and Its Leaders

3 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ.

2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready

No ----I totatlly disagree ------with this ---

God is not a respecter of Persons according to Scripture -----so the Holy Spirit would not equip some people and not others ---that contradicts Scripture -----that sounds like a Calvinist statement -----there Jaebius

No---- if the Professors Have received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour the same as everyone has to to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit then yes ---but the Holy Spirit does not go round equipping certain professors -just cause they call themselves Christians --according to Scripture --NO ----

Anyone can call themselves a Christian there Jaebius -----but know there are false Christians out there -----Wolves in sheep's clothing ----and they are preaching into days churches -----

At least a seminary education provides an understanding of the text, it's history, and the history of interpretation so each minister's opinion in a disagreement can be supported with reason and thoughtful interpretation. Others can evaluate those conflicting opinions based on the scriptural and other support cited.

When the whole basis of a minister's opinion is "I have the Spirit" then there is no support beyond shared beliefs. People who think Minister A has the Spirit will support them, ditto Minister B. And those of us who value thoughtful, rational understanding of anything, including scripture, just shake our heads and reject both.

In the end, it is still all subjective, but the educated minister at least has some kind of thought and reason behind their belief. The minister relying entirely on "the Spirit" is equally likely to be basing their teaching on their own biases and prejudices as any real thoughtful interpretation. It's how we end up with "gays are evil" and "women must be under the control of men" to be frank. Oh, and anti-Semitic supercessionist crap is in there, too.
Yes, disagreements among ministers who both claim the Spirit’s guidance are frustrating.

You’re right, without grounding in the Word, those disagreements devolve into “my Spirit vs. your Spirit,” which doesn’t help anybody.

I don't believe the Spirit and seminary education are meant to be in competition.

The text has a history. A context. Centuries of faithful wrestling. To considerate it we must study Greek verbs, church history, and hermeneutics

Precisely and well put. In fact, I would say they complement each other and I think that's your point as well? A Spirit-filled minister who also has a solid education and grounding in scripture, church history, and theology is going to be more well-rounded than one who is just Spirit-filled or one who is just educated. And "educated" need not mean an M.Div or doctorate or whatever, just having done some kind of formal, careful study of those subjects that can inform a thoughtful ministry.

Thank you Mendalla, and yes, I definitely agree. Seminary can be a great way to get educated, and it's the path that I chose, but it's not the only way. Some may benefituch more by following another way.

My particular seminary program was a good fit for me in that I was in a small cohort of students (11 of us at the start) who took all the classes together. I think in bigger seminary classes, I may have drowned. I believe God knew exactly what kind of training I needed

The Holy Spirit equips all believers, I agree, but He equips them in different ways depending on the ministry he has planned for them. The Bible speaks of different spiritual gifts. Not everyone, then, is given the gift of teaching.

If anything I say sounds Calvinist to you, I'm fine with that. Not that I'm seeking to now make this a conversation abt Calvinism.

My professors at seminary and Christian university were all Christians, all indwelt by the Spirit of Christ

But one can be very determined about this and avarice can take over preventing any learning and knowledge beyond the point of great will. Imagine an alternate willing to wander about this point to see if there is anything beyond the determined point ... a sense of uncertainty that would raise fear in many of the orthodox fixed ( kind of edifice unto themselves)?

Some of the outcast are rather misty and cloudy in the eye of the well set ... unmovable in the great heavens ... ir so it seems as we stand on the pivot ... dizzied by the go round ...

In an incidence of collision ... is there a chance of one or the alternate exploding in will (emotional thing as phenomena)? Watch for the flaring ... it is cool from a distance in far ed projection (IR)! If too close it may appear as blue flash and you're evaporated before you feel the warmth (UV). It is a rule associated with spacing stellar bodies ... in red shift ... just to see how it goes! Generally a cyclic thing ... as in and out and up and down in abstract space ... you can't change the edifice ... that's perseverance ... until it blows! Defines beauty and the beast ... somewhat related to good and bad depending on where you are in the circle ...

The gods do love conflict ... I resign to doing relief and thus back down and scratch out some icons ... no one understands ... because they are obsessed with not knowing ... thus considerable displacement in the dark and mysterious powers ... blind covenants?

If God is not a respecter of persons ... would that allow it to penetrate in difficult situations and cause failures to closed personalities? Some essences are really brutal about orthodox belief in the rush to control something that was to be communal or social ... and thus they go off on their own and behave parasitically instead of biosynthetically (shared creation with give and take grace of AD onus) ... responsible and appreciating?

May suggest an essence of balance in something intangible and ineffable ... a quieting?

Some say quieting is inevitable as eve angels and the fall of firm cover ... obscurity? None of the 3 great powers should look into the underlying bedroom ... there ongoing myth is laid out ... not mislaid ... (that's another story). Enough cannot be said about the stiff etic of mortals ... no give TU 't!

Hard case ... to protect the reptilian core ... Cushing the wills? Thus shing digs ...

He equips them in different ways depending on the ministry he has planned for them.
The Holy Spirit has one ministry planned for all believers there Jaebius -----and that is to Preach the Truth of the Gospel of Grace ----or the Gospel of Salvation -----

As far as the gifts of the Holy Spirit goes Jaebius ----I remember you saying that you didn't believe the Gifts of the Holy Spirit were still in effect ----

so have you changed your mind on that -----???????

The purpose of the Gifts are to edify the Church and give God the Glory ------

Not everyone, then, is given the gift of teaching.

All Saints are Spiritual teachers there Jaebius ---they have God indwelling in them -----what the Scripture says is ------

NOT MANY SHOULD BECOME TEACHERS -----so in other words assess yourself before you become a Teacher -----because you as a teacher will be JUDGED more Severely in your end for teaching incorrectly -------

James 3:1 AMP

The Tongue Is a Fire

3 Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity], my brothers and sisters,
for you know that we [who are teachers] will ]be judged by a higher standard [because we have assumed greater accountability and more condemnation if we teach incorrectly].

If anything I say sounds Calvinist to you,
Well I would make sure your Calvinist statements reflect the truth of the Scripture and not your own Calvinistic thinking -which is twisting the Gospel-message--that's just my advice -------

My professors at seminary and Christian university were all Christians, all indwelt by the Spirit of Christ
And you know that HOW ??????----just because they called themselves Christians ---doesn't mean they were Saved there Jaebius ------

I hope that the Professors who are teaching others to step into the Pulpit ---are Born Again and are teaching what they teach Rightly -----but i can guarantee you that NOT ALL ARE --

If you do your research you will find Negative stories of Ministers who went into Seminary believing the Bible and came out not believing the Bible -----some leave the Ministry after a time ----which says to me that they called themselves into Ministry ---not God -----

I do, however, know plenty of people who have lost their faith at seminary, and similarly people who have had bad experiences.

Mar 12, 2024 — 85% of seminary graduates leave the pastoral ministry within 5 years of completing their studies. But rarely do we hear firsthand from one of these individuals

I say ------ you can say what you like ---but I say ----a Born Again Person is fully equipped to be a Minister with God Dwelling in them ------Seminary School can teach some things BUT it can't teach all Spiritual things needed to be a True Minister --teaching the Gospel of Grace comes from Christ's Faith and the Holy Spirit Dwelling within -------and Seminary can;t give you either of thoses thigs as the come From GOD __NOT A SCHOOL

You might want to re-read 1 Corinthians 12 where Paul makes it clear that different people are called to different ministries with different gifts.

These are the Gifts that Jaebius says are No more in play as the ceased with the ending of the Apostles ----and he is not alone in his thinking ----others believe this as well -----

I disagree with that cause I have the Gift of Speaking in Tongues and so does --blaclbelt and airclean --so tongues as a gift is still in play today -----or I wouldn't have it -----

Now that being said ---I don't have the interpretation of tongues --so I could not go and speak in a Church setting ----but I use this gift in my personal prayer time -----

GordW -----the gifts in 1 Corinthians 12 -----are supernatural gifts given to certain people to build up the Body of Christ ------these gifts require the infilling of the Holy Spirit -----and Teaching is not listed as one of these gifts -----these Gifts are for God's Special Service -----

The Disciples at Pentecost were FILLED with the Holy Spirit to speak in Tongues ---to Preach the Gospel to Others in their language ----------they were able to preform miracles etc ----

these gifts listed are for God's Special Service to build up the Body of Christ in the Church -----all these gifts require Empowerment by and through the Holy Spirit -----

To Heal someone you need to be Filled with the Holy Spirit who empowers you to Heal ----the same applies to Prophecy ---Wisdom ---Knowledge ---Service etc ---these are Supernatural gifts -----to do God's Special work to build up the Church in the Body of Christ and Glorify God ------

! Corinthians 12
4 ;There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.

5 ;There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.

6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

7 ;Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

I say --------So what does manifestation mean here ---GordW

Lexical Summary
phanerósis: Manifestation

----a bestowment---by extension

Divine initiative—gifts are not human achievements but the Spirit openly working through people.

8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,

9 ;to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,

10 ;to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues and to still another the interpretation of tongues.

11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

New Testament Understanding

In the New Testament, the Greek word "hagios" is used to denote saints. This term is applied to all believers in Christ, emphasizing their status as those who are sanctified and called to live in holiness. The Apostle Paul frequently addresses his letters to the "saints" in various cities, indicating that all Christians are considered saints by virtue of their faith. For instance, in Ephesians 1:1 , Paul writes, "Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus."

Role and Function

The role of saints is multifaceted. They are called to be witnesses of Christ's love and truth in the world, to serve one another in love, and to build up the body of Christ, the Church. Ephesians 4:12 speaks of the purpose of the saints: "to equip the saints for works of ministry, to build up the body of Christ."
