Halloween Fall GIF by Rotbaeckchensaft

I once had a Pentecostal minister speak that only the holy ghost existed ... but if ghosts are of the essence ... if the essence is displaced would there be a lump in thin space? Tough to take for some folk ... a hard ghost would be dangerous as it streak through ...

Believe every area of life must be examined in light of God's glory and truth. I've personally come to the conviction that Halloween's something I'd rather not take part in.

Maturing means re-evaluating things you once enjoyed and deciding whether they still align with your beliefs and convictions. We all do that in different areas of life. This is one of those areas for me
And there I thought you were a devout Christian, yet you say you are going to forgo the Christian festival of Hallowtide, over All Hallows' Eve, All Saints' Day, and All Souls' Day.

And you're not going to do evening prep, nor celebrate the saints, and not even going to pray for the souls of the faithful departed. Wow! Not much of a Christian are you.
As such it makes the first line of your statement above to be a lie. Wow! Jay, unbelievable!

Then if you don't know the history of the belief systems ... you are stuck with living in the present only ... because of the nature and character of past and future are related ... a well of time that springs up basically mysterious.

Who can make time but that one chained in the light song ... sometimes known as Christ Mass Wave as a node of time passes ... a difficult thing to get down and digest!

There is strange stuff under the moonflower ...

Find it disappointing, Pavlos, that you chose to question my Christianity and accuse me of lying. Let's extend charity to each other.

I desire to examine every area of life in light of God's glory and truth. That's precisely why I've reached the conviction that I have regarding Halloween.

Disagreement doesn't make me dishonest or NOT MUCH OF A CHRISTIAN

Disagreement raises questions about the unity of god and whether there are separate sections, chapters and channels for examining the network that often hates the parts unknown. Should one travel a bit with mind and investigate the parts unseen? That'd be familiarization and exposure of the hidden booty ... another barrier? That stubborn follower ... Don Qui Odes paper? In primal vision just smears on a medium ... souls crashing to earth? Bo son ...

To be fair, that's mostly a Roman Catholic thing in the West. Reformed Protestants don't go in for saints much beyond figures like the Gospel writers and Apostles.

For me, Mendalla, it's important to appreciate how God worked through ordinary sinners redeemed by Christ. Whether it's through Apostles, Reformers, or FAITHFUL BELIEVERS WHOSE NAMES ARE FORGOTTEN, I focus on God's faithfulness.

We Reformed believers see value in remembering those who've gone before us and learning from their example. Gratitude for Christ's work in His people's fitting

Look, this entire thread is based on a false premise that starts the first post:
Believe every area of life must be examined in light of God's glory and truth. I've personally come to the conviction that Halloween's something I'd rather not take part in.
That's clearly not true as Jae has railed against Christians celebrating Halloween for years. Just search his username for "halloween" and have a laugh. You'll get stuff like this from 9 years ago:
We're not giving out any Halloween candy. We're choosing not to participate in Halloween due to religious reasons. Rather than having fun with ghosts, witches, and monsters, I'll be attending my church's annual Celebrate the Light party.
So no, he has not recently had any sort of epiphany. He's just using a persuasive technique to try to get people to come to the same conclusion. As Mendalla alludes, it's typical disingenuous Jae, with a hint of plausible deniability to wiggle out of it.

But the search for Jae's thoughts on Halloween did bring me to an old reply of mine, which made me laugh because I'm old and I forgot it, even though I wrote it:
The correct Christian response to Halloween is to denounce the violent imagery of blood and death.

Oh. Wait.

Thought you had me on "ignore," Luce

You suggested that ... I did not ... I listen to as much as possible to digest eternal communication; good, bad, ugly and Bootyful as information can inform our greater intelligence. I suspect you forgot that ... there are certain powers that disrupt our eternal soul ... that great thing beyond human as understanding ... a fringe power ro emotions when they run wild.
The reaction between emotions and intelligence are basically in a poorly understood condition given the belief in uninhibited desire ... praised by mortal ...

Take it or leave it ... gift or a pain ... knowledgeable gifts generally cause emotions a shock.

You suggested that ... I did not ...
Actually, Luce, it was @Mendalla who aptly said last Wednesday on the make a five word sentence thread, "(@Luce NDs, you're supposed to use the last word of the one above you. Please take Jae off ignore if necessary so you can see all the posts.)"

Anyway, I'm happy if you haven't.

Back to Halloween. Some have suggested that this's not my first year making the personal choice not to celebrate the event. Okay, granted. That doesn't mean I'm not thinking about it anew this year

And there's the plausible deniability angle employed once again.

And, on the subject of ignore lists, anyone who announces you are on theirs always seems to know when to read your ignored content. It's amazing how just about everyone who has announced they are ignoring me, knows to respond to me or be offended by my posts. It's like they are reading closer instead of ignoring.

Announcing who you are ignoring seems performative and intended to delegitimize the person you insist you are ignoring because you have nothing else.

The people using the ignore list effectively, and I know some, don't announce it.

However one fish looks very much like another fish to a blind man. Its religious regardless of who it is. And they don't go wave anti Halloween flags, do they.

To make it clear I do not believe I have ever put anyone on ignore ... unless by accident.

I like to evaluate all the incoming I can to be informed of both quirks and quarks in an alien domain like humans preside over ... mostly business and as one philosopher said business does not reconcile anything ... so I' was out from the start ... according to Loci ... a text on logic ... make sense? Is emotional raves a sensible line? Good for a break in straight liners ... the lies my brothers and fathers told? Pa t' riots ...

All christians, nay, all religions, are painted with the same brush. Doesn't your neighbour, Mr. Muslim or Mr. Jew, question your christianity? Isn't the goal of a sceptic to question your christianity? I'm sorry, but you lost me there. I was being nothing but charitable. However, if you are not following religious procedure, isn't it my job, or Mr. Muslim's and Mr. Jew's, to call you out on it? Disagreement means you go against god's truth. You have just chosen a different truth, one that you can claim makes you better for having it, even if god doesn't agree. It is the very essence of cafeteria christianity Jae

All Hallow's Eve arose from a Celtic tradition of responding to the deaths of members of the community over the previous year. All Saints refers to all deceased members of the Christian family.

It is a kind of recognition that those people and their deaths affected us and an attempt to heal or repair any ways we were or might become harmed by those deaths. A community response to emotional and psychological realities of being human. The witches and demons represent the hurtful parts.
