So, after I watched that, YouTube got it in its little AI brain that I like Cyndi Lauper. Hey, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I want to take a moment to salute whoever had the idea of putting Cyndi in a tribute to Cher. This is a great cover of one of my favorite Cher songs.

Cyndi Lauper looks great, and sounds the same. The audience looks a bit awkward though.

Maybe her voice is a bit deeper than when she was in her 20s but it's unmistakably Cyndi Lauper.

I feel really ignorant that I didn't realize Donald Glover and Childish Gambino are the same person. I have heard DG's name and I have seen him act but didn't realize this person is as immensely talented as he is. Part of it is, a lot of his music is more hip hop and rap which isn't my thing- however style and my personal taste doesn't discount his incredible talent.

He recorded a song which was either nominated or won a Grammy, but, despite the song and video's artistic merit, the video is too violent (it's meant to shock) to post here.

This one is not shocking, but is more soulful and poignant.

I wrote somewhere upthread about Swedish Youtuber Julia Westlin and her Canadian husband David MeShow. They are a talented couple who have put out some good material, both covers and originals.

Alas, Julia has been seriously I'll for a while now. She's a bit vague about what exactly it is, but she is now home in Sweden awaiting surgery. This cover of Shallow from A Star is Born is going to be her last release until after the surgery and it's a rare duet for them. Usually it's just Julia singing with David producing and accompanying her. Needless to say, fans are sending her good wishes and prayers.

Very amateur videos, but a lovely singer-songwriter we had last night at the church. Retired UCCan minister, wonderful clear voice.

Now this is cool. From this past week's Live From Here: fiddle improv. Chris gets the audience to call out three fiddle tunes and then he and the band improvise a medley.

Hope (full name Hope Russell-Winter) is my first musical discovery of 2019. She has a lovely voice and a jazz sensibility, even when she's doing pop. She's a fairly good pianist, too.

This is her most recent post, the standard "Blame it on my youth". The pianist who joins her is marvelous.

Singers like her give me "hope" for the future of music. I shall refrain from the rest of possible puns on her moniker.:D

A bittersweet win at tonight's Grammy awards. The late Chris Cornell won Best Rock Performance for the final song he recorded before his death. It's his first solo Grammy, but he won two others as part of Soundgarden. His children accepted the award.

Oh, that voice. So sad to realize that's his final recording ever.

In happier Grammy news, St. Vincent picked up a Best Rock Song trophy for Masseduction, from the album of the same name, which also picked up honors for Recording Package (which, I assume, is the best design award).

And she also burned up the stage in a sexy duet with New Artist winner Dua Lipa. The song is a mash-up of Masseduction and Lipa"s One Kiss.

Hi Mendalla - I have recently caught a couple of episodes of "Songs of Freedom" with Measha Bruegergossman (possibly I spelled that correctly???) Half hour programme on TV, prob also online tho. Gospel music by this amazing vocalist & a kick-ass session band & arranger.

Measha's a great singer. I think she's done opera, too. I think you're close on the spelling. Sounds interesting.

In honour of Valentine's Day and the the 10th anniversary of the song, Kina Grannis has put out a new version of her song Valentine, which is a longtime favorite amongst her fans.

British singer Dido has been rather quiet the last few years but has recently started coming back. This is a marvelous re-do of one of her old hits.

Yes - I think opera is her mainstay - so it was fabulous to hear her sing gospel. She has an amazing range. In one of the episodes, she finished up by singing "Blessed Assurance" - very old hymn that she said she grew up singing but even her Baptist church in NB didn't really "black it up" as much as she would like - so this arrangement was extraordinary! She commented that "it needed a tight jeans guitar solo in the middle" LOL

Few people seem to latch into the lyrics ... piles of word are not appreciated ... so help me God ... an observation!

For those of you out there told to shut up by authority ... let us talk subliminally ... disturb their pools!

Mass disturbed waters ... as they twinkle under the night sky!
