1. Nowhere have I implied that Trump won this election illegally. Again, it seems this is brought up whenever there is criticism of the new new Trump administration. I totally get that he was elected as a protest against the status quo, and I totally agree with you that Clinton was also a scary choice. But that was yesterday and we seem to have jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

It seems that you think Trump represents Christians who want to get back to basic Christian morals or something. In what world does racism, fear mongering, lying (yes, outright lying and the outright denial of basic truths), and a fascist style of government where putting America first above the rest of the world represent basic Christian morals?

I know that he's only been in control for ... not even 10 days now, but his rhetoric and hateful actions are already pointing to somebody that, I believe, you and I should be very afraid of. And this is not just about the US, which is why people around the world are speaking up. A few weeks ago he said that the US “must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes”. Does sound like someone with basic Christian morals? It sounds like the beginnings of a madman to me.

You and @blackbelt1961 are backing the wrong horse with Trump, he alone has the ability to move the doomsday clock forward towards a world we would not want to see. The protests around the world are about this very scary reality that Trump is creating. Hitler did not start his regime with gas chambers, he started it with the promise to make Germany great again and the fear that the Jews were the reason why Germany wasn't great. His rhetoric whipped an otherwise good people up into a fear based frenzy.

Edit to add: the subject of Kevin O'Leary should be another post, he has nothing to do with this subject of America First.

Trump has spent more time questioning the legitimacy of his own victory. This does not make sense for a rational person. If the election results were thrown out, he'd have to run all over again. He should shut up about it.

But Trump is not rational. He needs complete victory every time. If he doesn't win, he'll claim victory anyway. He hates that he lost the popular vote. He has to win it. He claims he won it based on no evidence. People who will believe anything will buy it. People he has hired have to believe it or they are fired. He lives in a bubble. The President of the United States is more separated from the real world now than any other president before him.

There have been a lot of very influential Christian leaders asking for this very thing for a long time. Other Christians have said next to nothing. Atheists have been taking them on for a long time. When moderate Christians do weigh in on that spat, they often join the criticism of...the atheists.

Now this group of Christian asshats have real power. But hey, at least they aren't atheists, eh?
 
I'll give Francis this one. He still thinks homosexuals are disordered, but he gets this right. Catholics also backed Trump pretty convincingly. I forget the exact numbers, but I linked to them before. Catholics did a lot to vote him in. And it's not like Trump has changed. He is doing what he said he would do. Now Francis is speaking out? Where was the Catholic outrage during the campaign when Trump said he would do things like this?

And where is the condemnation of other religious leaders who are loving and supporting Trump? That's where the pressure is coming from. Go after the source.

Can the error of his ways be pointed out without causing him a meltdown of narcissistic crisis? Because that does no one any good. I understand very well the tendency to want to "call things out" - but really will it help? Maybe it's a good idea to learn how to get along with a narcissist - without compromising one's own values? All he cares about is winning the deal and being admired. So, what if he can win for ethical reasons and those reasons can be admired?

Unless congress moves to have him removed from office...That's a moot point at the moment. Because he is president. So instead of shouting him down and insulting him en masse (will do nothing to help in the face of this personality - it will only allow protesters to let off steam but it won't help). How would that psychologist deal with someone like him? What does the science say?
