She's had a distinguished law and judicial career, is bilingual in English and French, and well-respected at home and around the world. So not a bad choice at all. She's Quebecois, which should play well in that province, too.

That's my thinking, too. After some of the important and likely quite stressful work she has done, like war crimes prosecutions, being the Canadian face of the monarchy will be a nice retirement project for her.
