I think it talks about itself as a community. It also strikes me as commonly Canadian to define onseself by stating what one is not - eg when we compare to Americans ... we're more likely to say how we're not like them, rather than strongly state what we are.

Yes, they define as secular communities.

But again, not an originally Canadian idea . . . there are eight or so already in existence in the U.S.

Aren't all inventions just coming up with new things in different ways? Ne helps in that I've heard.

It's ski season. I'll probably never be there, but ski season is sacred to me. Nothing interrupts my winter weekends. Carter died on a Tuesday and we were up there Friday night. We missed one weekend for his birth and I was pissed at him.

I am curious about it as I am with Sunday Assembly but I will wait until someone tries to start one here. I see Martin Frith of Humanists Canada is involved with the Toronto one so maybe our humanists will follow suit.

However, I doubt that it is really what I am after in a church, though I am currently not entirely certain what that is.
