The reason the rich get richer and the poor seem to get poorer is because the rich produce and the poor do not. But there are far less people in the world in abject poverty than ever before.
This is a very simplistic view & in many situations incorrect. There are many who would take issue with such a statement. The rich often do NOT produce anything - they hire the poor and pay them minimal wage with no benefits - it is they who actually produce items in many situations - not the rich. The rich shut down factories here and move production oversees to make even more money - sacrificing the jobs of the poor they may have previously employed. Yes, I know you can argue it.

Not sure what is wrong with making money. It’s a biblical principle. Invest wisely and God gives you more. Invest poorly and even what you have will be taken away.

There is nothing wrong with making money. The issue is making it at the expense of others. Cheaping out in care facilities so you can get rich is the issue. If you have to pay slave wages or offer bad services in order to make money you need to revise your business plan or find another line of work.

How does paying minimum wages and offering no benefits work in this?
Well if you are on that most basic level, minimum wage is way mite than zero. But minimum wage is meant to be for students and people with no real skills entering the workforce. Not to feed a family. If you just keep working minimum wage, you are like the guy who buried the talents. But that is pretty much what you can expect from kids coming out of schools with liberal educations. They were never taught how money works. Just covet the rich guy’s wealth. Blame him for your circumstance. Become socialists and steal his wealth.

If only it were that simple. It's far more complex than this.

This is the novel coronavirus thread. So I'll return to the topic by pointing out that many of the people considered essential were people earning minimum wages. Many of those were people trying to feed a family and working more than one job to make ends meet.

Non-medical masks or face coverings

Some face coverings are not regulated as medical devices. These are masks that do not make medical claims or indicate they will reduce or prevent the user from contracting a disease. Non-medical claims include the following statements:
  • Face coverings can play an important role in situations where physical distancing is not possible or is unpredictable.
  • When worn properly, a person wearing a non-medical mask or face covering may reduce the spread of their respiratory droplets.
  • These non-medical masks or face coverings have not been tested to meet any standards. Although encouraged, wearing a non-medical mask or face covering is not a substitute for physical distancing and hand washing.

A number of reference documents outline the preferred material, design and best practices for wearing face coverings. These include:

These documents are different from the standards that apply to medical masks, as face coverings may not protect the user from external respiratory droplets. As well, the filtration capability of a face covering depends on factors such as design, seams, material, layering and shape.

Health Canada has not set out or endorsed any standards for face coverings at this time. We are actively monitoring the development of standards for face coverings and may revise our position when new information becomes available.

???????????? The last question is related to a statement you made about Covid survivors.....not the statement you placed above it. Still waiting for a clear answer but if you prefer not to, up to you.

Why did you post the article about cost effective health care in other countries? when you previously advised me that Canada has their own protocols?
MAID was implemented in Canada as a cost effective measure for LTC .. that may or may not include LTC related to any disease ... how are the long term effects of one illness more or less affordable than another?
