Yeah, right, have I struck you as a tattle tale? Occasionally, when a grocery store customer is a total a**hole, will consider taking it up a level. Otherwise, I rely on my responsible neighbours to self-direct the less responsible. I also don't demand that customers be numerate, or literate, normally, despite clear large, normal signs about "1-12 items", "customer service and refunds" "no price matching".

So, under current circumtances, what I will do is enforce distancing and I'm hard about it. It you aren't doing it right, I'm just standing there, waiting for you to keep your s**t together.

... land mines that are manufactured for profit and planted across millions of other countries miles ... for the sole purpose of blowing up trespassers - which a**holes would do that in the first place? The same a**holes that are now going to save us from the mines backfiring? How much money was spent on bombs instead of 'pandemic' preparedness? I think you miss my point ... by millions of mined country miles.
 
The BC Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, says BC is not seeing a dramatic number of increases in positive cases, hospitalizations, or people in ICU.

“I don’t want to spend a lot of people policing people outside,” she said. (I think it was supposed to say/ she meant “I don’t want to spend a lot on people policing people outside.”)

(Island Heath Authority’s catchment, again, is 795 000 ppl. We are up by 2 cases, to 74.) up 7 cases since monday and Tues which held at 67 both days. That is not dramatic.)

Victoria no longer using Beacon Hill Park as temporary homeless shelter

The City of Victoria announced several new measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 Thursday, including restructuring its plans to create outdoor temporary homeless shelters at three local parks.

Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps says that the city will no longer be opening a shelter in Beacon Hill Park, and will only open two facilities, one in Topaz Park and one in Royal Athletic Park.

The decision to focus on two facilities instead of three will allow for city staff to construct and open the homeless shelters sooner and more efficiently, says Helps.

Victoria’s mayor adds that the city and provincial government continue to work on indoor housing options for homeless people in the city.
As of Thursday, Island Health made 30 beds available for people in the street community who display symptoms of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Emergency Management BC and the city have secured 35 motel rooms for homeless people to stay in, which will be funded by the provincial government.
The motel rooms have been secured for a total of 30 days, and will be reviewed once their secured time has ended.
Helps adds that the rooms will only be occupied by people who display no symptoms of coronavirus.

Playgrounds and parks

All public playgrounds are closed. The temporary closure affects only playgrounds that are in Saanich parks or at Saanich recreation facilities.

Parks remain open at this time, but we ask that users please respect appropriate physical distancing guidlines and stay 1-2 metres away from other users.
 
What about kids in abusive homes with nobody in the community, like teachers and doctors, other parents, able to notice anything wrong because nobody is seeing anybody? Domestic violence calls are up. Adults' mental health is suffering...what about kids? That's potentially worse than not shutting down playgrounds. Even in the best of homes - not being able to play outside with other kids for months is bad for their health. It's a crappy time for everyone - especially kids.

This is really bad, something more concerning in the long term...one article of many.

I think Sweden's probably doing the right thing...but we shall see who wins the COVID-19 Olympics, I suppose.

Testing anybody with flu symptoms - testing as many people as possible regardless - is key and should be, should've already been, the first response - because asymptomatic people in the community and people quarantined with regular colds makes little sense. World leaders screwed up royally and now everyone's human rights and freedoms are limited because of them. That might end up being an injustice that costs more lives than covid.

China screwed up by not listening to its citizens - doctors - in the first place - and because they are an authoritarian government, the administration believes the bulls**t too, because they are conditioned to and their information is also suppressed...and that suppresses the truth. Even Xi himself ends up getting suppressed information by censoring journalists in the ground. And that allowed COVID to get out of control.

As of the news ( German Tagesspiegel) from today, Sweden is changing the tactic now. They have corona in several nursing homes on Stockholm, 250 residents are affected of which 50 died so far. That doesn’t sound like a very successful way of dealing with corona. I think they are just slow responding, which, as you can see in Britain, is not a beneficial tactic. Their President has announced today that the Swedish population should be prepared for many more deaths.
 
I thought the Ontario government gave a great set of
updates yesterday. The initial medical press conference was thorough and easy to understand. Clear numbers while at the same time discussion of statistics and spread. Large numbers for what would have happened, pretty big numbers even now with things shut down

i thought the premier as well did a good job. I am not a fan of Fords but he has really risen to this challenge and has been clear and somber and not heavy handed

i liked when he said something like. If you think it’s ok to get together with a few buddies in the basement and have a few beers, it’s not

i think clear examples like that help people register

i understand why playgrounds and things you touch are closed. And I understand why they are watching for rule breakers. a party in Brampton was broken up a night or two ago. People having a back yard bbq. But we do need parks, we do need to get out. I worry what would happen if they started not letting people go outside

the scary news is how quickly a nursing home can be over run with patients infected. And how deadly it is for them

four Hospital workers in my nieces and nephews. One surgeon, one nurse, two social workers. All are scared. All are stripping down in their laundry areas, showering and changing before they hug family. They are all worried about the scarcity of equipment

i do think an issue when you are out walking , is it is hard to keep your distance. Sidewalks are less than two meters wide, mostly, and so to walk past someone, one of you needs to go onto the street. there Was a request in Toronto for part of the streets to be handed over to walking, seeing as not many cars are out. Logically I guess that is tricky, because of course there are cars out and about, just not as many
 
We have been lucky with the cold weather here supporting people staying indoors. Italy, despite over 500 deaths a day, has beautiful weather and people are flocking the streets again, forgetting all about safety measures.
 
To be isolated and yet connected is a worrisome paradox ... then many in their arrogance (snoots) can't see the conflict and the burro right into it ... like they have an ass on their shoulders. In some regard this seems an idol to illustrate the balance of having nothing on the other shoulder ... for all we know it could be an abstract truth that the arrogant side of the tree can't support without the sublimation ... a cyclic snow job?

Then if one last tree falls ... will there be anything there to acknowledge the dynamic? This may be composed into a mythical situation ... without anyone to understand ... yet to empower the masses isn't that the idol/goal?

It can really disturb a fine line ... brae in wave function?

I've wondered about that......will people still listen once the weather gets warmer?

There was an article in the paper about a local woman - works for a disability agency here - who uses a manual wheelchair - noticing more spit on the sidewalk. She asked people to please watch out and move out of the way for those with mobility devices because we can't easily get onto the street right away if there's a curb.
