Fascinating? Not sure that's the word I'd use Pinga, but I do recall writing the paper and preparing the presentation. As I recall (I took the course four or five years ago), the worship of Sedna is largely focused on the need of the worshipper to do certain ritual acts in order to appease her. I'd have to dig up the paper to say anything more and I'm not even sure if I could do that as it was on my old notebook computer that's now kaput.

    I have never heard it referred to as a walk in the park (unless the doctor immediately said that the park was full of muggers and gang-bangers trying to off each other and heedless of who gets in the way).

    Part of the problem is a romanticized impression of modern medicine being sunshine and lollipops. Another part of the problem is the belief that somewhere in all of creation is a magic substance that does what the nastiest medicines devised by man can do, only it tastes like banana or strawberry.

    Cancer is a fight for life and not everyone who engages in it wins.

    The best we can hope for is to somehow get the drop on it, catching Cancer with its pants down appears to be little more than dumb luck.

    More often than not Cancer catches us with our pants down and it doesn't stop to exchange high fives with other cancers while we are still trying to process the news. Mind you, wait to long and it brings friends to the party and really plans to trash the whole place.

    Many of the veterans I have ministered to are convinced that "War is Hell" Those who fought overseas and then came home for a fight with Cancer sometimes share the opinion that they had it easier in the army.

    So I can empathize with parents who can no longer send their child onto that battlefield for whatever reason.

    Cancer takes no prisoners so waving the medical equivalent of a white flag will not end well. It may simply end sooner.

    Visited the site. Thanks for the picture. I like it. So far the Transgender discussion has held most interest for me. The rest of what I have been reading looks more like a battleground for the articulate. I eventually get the gist of the conversations but although I would like to make comments I feel that I could not adequately express myself to have any impact on the conversation. Enjoyed visit yesterday and although my evening was not so good the visit did me a lot of good .Only hope I don't talk too much. Thanks again for the organ. Already have audition at the Institute for the Hearing Impaired. Pretty excited about that! Have a good day and say hi to Garry.

    I am sure you will participate once a certain topic peaks your interest enough ... other than that is just another forum but with many different topics ... If nothing else I enjoy following George ... Your time would probably be better spent practicing for your audition ...

And the less I am referred to as trans the better I feel ..... I am a woman and that is all I the label I strive for.
When talking with others and the subject comes up ..... tell them about the personal experience you have with a trans person.
You need not be an expert ..... just affirm we are real ..... and we are worth knowing ... just like anyone else :)

There are a series of words which have been used to put down people / groups. These words have power in the hands of both the oppressed and the oppressor. The power in the hands of the oppressed is to use the word, and take it back , to use it within the community. When the oppressor uses it, it is inappropriate. When a commercial enterprise uses it, which is external to the group, then it is also part of the oppression.

Look at the words use to describe people who are African - American. The wors to describe aboriginal people around the world. Women...

Some words, do their history, can only be used by those who have been victimized by them.

ps. for those who aren't clear, as Monk doesn't use the quoting groups, the whole post above is my post. It was reference to the use of "eskimo" in relationship to edmonton.

I am still not sure what in particular Monk is thinking is unholy.

Pinga - is this just a word. Do the Inuit honor the word? Do you think that you using Pinga would be honored by the Inuit? Do you aspire to having the same characteristics as the Pinga that they honor? Are you a part of their community?

User Identity: Members are allowed to participate anonymously on wondercafe2.ca. User names, profiles, and avatar pictures must not be offensive in nature. Do not impersonate others, or use names representative of divine figures of any religion.

If you are using the argument that Pinga is actually a divine figure that some honor reverently - perhaps you should change your name so as not to risk being offensive to them. That then would also exclude the name Lucifer - or Satan - as many hold those words up as their divinity.

 
Or ... you could use the P.I.N.G.A. format and become the signing authority of its connotations.

OOPS ... P-I-N-G-A is the format.

aaah, yes, the name came from a long time ago, and was shortened from PingaDohtor.....which was a shaman in world of warcraft.
It was very much honouring of the name in that game. The nature of the character fully fit the intent, and my method of play. It is not unusual to meet characters utilizing names of many Gods/gods/goddesses in that game.

I have been clear since the very first post that I made where Pinga came from, both on the original wondercafe and on this one.
It is a name that has followed me through my online presence.

I will request input from the moderators, and if they feel it is inappropriate, then I will shorten it to Ping.

Curious, should you change your name from Monk since you aren't actually a Monk?

You can not change my thoughts but I will concede to changing the word (note I did not capitalize christ and that means something to me). I will think of Pinga as the anti-biotic. To my mind they are the same thing - but for others here the anti-biotics are easier to swallow?
