Not understanding the words sometimes helps the whole of it make more sense.

Does satanic black metal count as "spiritual"? Hmmm. Maybe I should post some and see reactions. Some of the most extreme ones are basically parodies of Christian prayers and hymns (and at times, descend into self-parody when they go too far, which is why I am a bit meh on traditional black metal).
There is white spiritual vs Black Spiritual ... then even red, yellow, green and following about the blues spirit ... because of spiritual divisions?
Let us dip into the alternate ... there may be implications!

Christian metalheads Stryper have a new album in the Fall. A couple recent releases from it:
While I don't share their faith, these guys put out solid, if a bit old-fashioned now, heavy metal with some really good use of Biblical and Christian imagery and ideas in their lyrics. The band started under a different name in 1981 and became Stryper when they moved to being a Christian band in 1983. They haven't been active the whole 45 years, breaking up and reforming a couple times. The core of the band is two brothers, vocalist Michael Sweet and drummer Robert Sweet.

Not generally a reggae fan, though I must admit I enjoyed visiting Marley house when I was in Kingston, Jamaica. But this song ... yeah, it's great music in any style. There's a cover around of the late Chris Cornell and his then young daughter Toni (she's now 22 and a working singer herself) singing it.
