Is it just me in my old age, or something about my computer?or something changed at WC2?

Until recently whenever I turned my computer on and hit the WC2 symbol, it would come up with me already logged on and ready.. I am the only person using this computerand I never log off of WC2.

But recently, I've noticed that I have to log on every single time I want to check in. This happens even though I always hit 'keep me logged on'.

I have to notice that I'm in 'read only' unable to 'like' or reply, or check New Posts. Then find the 'log on' And steady my hand enough to control the mouse. Not a big deal; more a small annoyance. Can it be fixed?
 
The problem is likely on your side. Specifically, it sounds like your browser isn't accepting cookies from us. That's how the "keep me logged in" bit works. What web browser do you use?
 
Sometimes I have trouble signing in to WC2. It always seems to work fine on the home page but other pages are hit and miss.
 
It happened to me too, I think checking the “ stay logged on” button helped when signing in and maybe downloading the newest updates on my Ipad
 
Depends on the operating system, ie which windows version, but, you a poweroff doesn't do a full restart all the time. If you have an option of shutdown or restart, pick restart. If you don't have that, then, take the "power off " option.

Basically, new operating systems have shifted to doing fast restarts, which sometimes isn't enough for patches to apply. A restart of your computer allows that to occur. It also "dumps" some of the temporary settings which could be causing issues.

Do you use Windows Seeler? If so, then in the bottom left corner of your screen you will see a little icon that looks like a four pane window. Click on that & you will see a "power" icon (little circled with a small vertical line at the top). Click on that & you will see 3 options - sleep; shut down; restart. Click on whichever one you want. Not sure with Dragon - do you access these also by voice command?
 
Thanks for your replies. Just knowing that it 'isn't just me' helps. I'll live with this very minor problem for now. Perhaps it will self correct.

And I guess I've been restarting all along but didn't use that term. Each night, or if I'm going out for a good part of the day, I do as Carolla' excellent directions suggested. I go to the little windows icon, hit power and shutdown , wait for the screen to turn black, and put the cover down.
(Seelerman told me this isn't nedessary; on his laptop he just closes it and whatever he was looking at comes up right away. Seelergirl says I should always shut down.)
This procedure doesn't shut it down completely. There is still a little dot of light on the left edge. Sometimes when I have a problem Seelerman will unplug it, take the batteries out, and give it a little rest before plugging in again. Pinga, is this what you meant by restart?
 
Shutdown on new computers is not the same as the windows 7 or earlier operating systems.

Shutdown keeps some items in memory.

You want to restart.


It is confusing, as it is the opposite to what people expect. Shutdown is closer to the old hibernation

Actually , it has been doing this again with me the last few days, too, but checking off the remind password button again made it go away.
