Just keep going....
Today we had a discussion at quaker meeting about the following concept:

This fellow (monk ) has his own website/ movement. He will be turning 100 next month.

Worth listening to the full TED talk. Please note, that his understanding of gratefulness has nothing to do with the concept of many religions to tell people to be grateful so they don’t complain or ask for change and who promise them everything in the afterlife..

Does being grateful for all things include the painful learning curves?

Therein one might expect some singular conflicts with high livers that wish to know nothing but draining the head device ... scull dugery?

I listened to the Video he speaks a lot like Eckhart Tolle ----Gratitude --Living in the present moment -----

Real gratitude arises when you stop thinking about what to be grateful for and simply rest in the present moment.

I think that's actually a horrible understanding of gratitude and a bit of a abuse of the concept. The idea of gratitude we see here and in a lot of modern spiritual discourse is much more valuable personally and for the world. It's also a tough row to hoe sometimes. There's days when gratitude for being alive and out of bed is the most I can muster, if that (e.g. yesterday, I had a bout of depression). And even that can be a grudging "well, at least I am not sick or dead" kind of gratitude.

As Mendalla points out -----worldly Gratitude is conditional ----and will rise and fall with your Fleeting emotional state and external circumstances -----

True Spiritual Gratitude is cultivated in the heart which expresses itself as a natural response to the goodness that comes our way and the Goodness we have been given in this life ---this Gratitude is stable regardless of our fleeting emotions and external circumstances ------

What are the benefits of a thankful heart?

It increases empathy, reduces aggression, improves self-esteem, and helps you sleep better. Being a grateful person can even help you overcome trauma in your past! Those are some pretty serious benefits. That may help to explain why it's such a big deal in the Bible, too.
