LAST as winter pops back in for the weekend. Spring-y weather looming in the next week, though.

Same here. Winter is visiting us today. But the day is sunny and clear which is nice.

Freudian symbol with a crash ... cymbal? Kohl ... and often canned (kahn'd) brain candy ... a beau, Δ d' el Ta meaning a differing word (Ta') as metaphorical to maintain mystery! People just do not wish to know ... so don't tell, be uncompromisingly still ... granite monkey? These can be found in Asia ... stoned?

Some say mountainous dragons ... also with spines ...

Insane? Maybe but there are those that say that's normal in a world spun off from Mars ... Venus comes up and down with the sun by times ... like a speck in the aye of what's out there beholden ... support system of unknown limits? MOG ... could it be ... thus the cosmos' buzz ... you don't often observe it ... only in the night ... a sparkling concert! It there to be put out or taken in ...

Cold day to be without a car, and the big guy's has broken down as well. Walked home from his place last night, but I won't do that again. Too much danger of slipping and falling with this constant melt/freeze stuff going on.

LAST as I contemplate the sheer massive inconvenience of not having a car.

Of course I know that, Jae, and you might recall that my dog walking friend of some 45 years also has never driven. Life is very different when you have lived your life at walking/public transit speed versus being used to independent driving speed, and all the concommitant responsibilities for driving people and their crap around, and suddenly being slowed to walking speed.

Last as I listen to the sound of rain on the roof. The phrase "atmospheric river" has been used for this weekend's forecast.

Have lived with that for decades
It all depends on the location. One of my kids lives centrally in North Toronto and does just fine without a car. It would be more challenging where @BetteTheRed lives.

Also the risk of falling on ice is a bigger concern as we age. So walking becomes less feasible in the winter. Even if it works wonderfully well in other seasons.

You're actually suggesting, Bette, life is more difficult for those who have to live just temporarily without a car?

Even here in London, transit is a PITA in parts of the city. I would probably be forking over a lot of money to Uber or Lyft drivers if I lost my car.

When you're used to something, doing without is a hardship. Not sure she is suggesting it is more difficult, but it requires an adjustment that people who have done without their whole lives don't have to make. Let's leave it there, eh. This is supposed to be a friendly, fun thread.

None of you know the hardship of living one's whole life without a car, Mendalla

I can sympathize with @BetteTheRed , I just enjoy having a car, period.
I had to get my rt. axle changed a couple days ago...we have a wonderful mechanic who is quite reasonable. We order the part from Amazon (so much cheaper),:he puts it on.....Boom $150 labour and $120 for the part and that includes tax.

We could do without a vehicle here. It would probably be a big challenge. I'm not sure how I'd get from here to the hospital for appointments or bloodwork. Getting to some things like church, knitting groups or the like might have the possibility of a ride from someone else going to the same spot.

Imagine someone used to going on will alone without a mind ... and then getting a mental flash ... oh crap the entire thing blew!

Musta been the gas ...
