Yobo and I use a different technique.

I put the dirty dishes in the sink, cover them with hot water, add dishwashing liquid to the hot water, and proceed to wash from there, scrubbing and rinsing as I go.

I mainly do the dishes, and he does most of the cooking. I am salads sandwiches and baking. We have a dishwasher that only gets used when we have company.
 
Yeah, we got another good dump overnight. Looking not to bad today, though.
