Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

There are centrally located highrise communities here which have a certain appeal. Everything within walking distance or a short Uber/ transit ride might be nice.

But I am more of a suburbia person. LAST while looking out at the grass which is still green.
Surprisingly, our grass is quite green here too - must be the moisture we've been getting lately

Most of our leaves are down but, yeah, grass still looks pretty good (where I can see it through the leaves, anyhow).

07:49 Sunday.

Today, my church here in Seoul's celebrating Thanksgiving. Including my English ministry. I have to get up now and go preach a couple of Thanksgiving sermons.

Why, I have no clue. Out of our church of 3,000 people, only 1 guy is American

Don't need to be American to give thanks. You're a bit early, though, if this relates to US Thanksgiving. It is Nov. 28 this year. Hope the services go well. :giggle:

Agreed. Thanks is always something to be thankful for.

I can't believe we don't even have the date right

Maybe you're splitting the difference between Canadian and American (though I find it hard to believe many people in Korea outside of ex-pats like you and ones with relatives here would even know Canada has its own Thanksgiving).

Not sure about church. Keep thinking about starting to go to one but never seem to get there. The UU fellowship isn't exactly turning my crank with their current topics. Not even sure my more "religious" themes would even be welcome anymore. So maybe a UCCan congregation for now. Just need to figure out which one.

Don't really know. I just get the directions from our Senior Pastor for such things, this time via our Sunday School Head Teacher. We have so many pastors at my church. Quite unlike the Baptist churches I was a member of in Toronto where the Pastor's always the top guy. It's better this way, I feel, as it calls for greater collaboration.

My EFL students have all known just a little about Canadian Thanksgiving, when I've reminded them / said something about it.

I just asked Yobo why today's Thanksgiving at our church, and she wasn't sure, either. It seems that Korean churches just set a date around this time of year and then celebrate Thanksgiving. Which suggests it's less tied to American Thanksgiving than I thought
